Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction/Gate Pedal
Special Order

HUSH Noise Gently or Kill It Quick!

If you play ferocious metal riffs via a hot amp and a pedalboard full of stompboxes, then you know how hard it can be to tame all that inherent noise that comes in when you're not playing. That's why Rocktron's amazingly effective Guitar Silencer pedal is such a must-have! This pedalboard-friendly noise reduction stompbox takes care of unwanted noise and feedback your way. Choose the threshold setting and control noise without chopping of notes or affecting sustain. That's Rocktron's patented HUSH technology at work. Use the gate knob to totally "slam the gate shut" as soon as you hit a note (Dimebag and Helmet fans, take note). True-bypass switching means that, when the Guitar Silencer is switched off, your signal won't be affected.

Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise-reduction Pedal Features:
  • Cuts hiss, unwanted feedback, and pickup buzz
  • Incredibly easy to use
  • Threshhold control won't cut off notes or chop sustain
  • Gate control lets you totally kill noise, immediately
  • ACTIVE LED lights up when gate threshold has been met
  • Perfect for pedalboards
  • Tough metal construction
  • Custom designed laser-etched artwork
  • True bypass
Rocktron's Guitar Silencer pedal lets you gently suppress - or quickly kill - your guitar rig's noise!

Works great

Was skeptical but i needed to squash feedback and silence extraneous noise. I have it at the beginning of my chain right after my wah. It cut down on feedback via the hush control. The gate helps keep things in check too. I have seymour duncan blackouts in an Ibanez RG and they are hot. I play metal and the volume and gain are high. The guitar would feedback and squeal even while playing . This pedal fixed it. I can hear no effect on the tone at volume.

Not bad.

The gate works well and the loop is nice if you have a noisy pedal you want to be able to take out of your chain or simply so that you know the gate is turned off when disengaging a distortion pedal. I do have a few issues with this pedal though. First the Hush section only seems to work well at the end of the effects loop chain and the Gate only works well before gain so having the two in the same pedal hasn't been much of a bonus for my uses. Instead of the external loop I would have liked to have seen the extra jacks used to rout the different circuits so I could use the gate up front and the Hush in the loop. It is also a bit noisy which seems odd for a gate. It gates the sound of the guitar signal great but increases background noise when engaged as well as making a loud pop from the switch. You can turn up the Hush control and quite the noise but it will also adversely effect the guitars tone as well. The finish on these silver Rocktron pedals is garbage, I have had this pedal two years and it looks like it is decades old. Still works just fine though. For the price it should be made in the U.S.A. I'm sorry but I don't care to pay more than a hundred dollars for any pedal from China, there are plenty of other companies that make pedals in this price range and manufacture them here. If you are looking for an old school fast acting gate for high gain metal, this gate does work very well in that application. If it was lost or stolen I would try something else. Overall, not bad if nothing else is available.
