Martin GPC-28E Grand Performance Acoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Comfortable Grand Performance body style
  • Fishman Aura VT Enhance pickup system for rich, natural sound
  • World-class tonewoods for a big sound and look
Comfortable Grand Performance body style

The forward, balanced tone of the GPC-28E comes from its Grand Performance body style. This body provides excellent projection and focus with a warmth that is never booming and detail that is never harsh. This sound is popular for both fingerstyle playing and full-chord strumming. The Grand Performance has a bigger low end than the 000 models but is still supremely comfortable for slinging over your shoulder night after night. Many of our acoustic players here at Sweetwater swear by Martin Grand Performance guitars for their comfortable fit and exceptional versatility.

Fishman Aura VT Enhance pickup system for rich, natural sound

Fishman's breakthrough acoustic sound imaging technology makes you sound like you're playing into a great mic in a great room. The GPC-28E's onboard Aura VT Enhance system gives you studio-quality sound to take to the stage or use in home recordings. Unlike modeling, Aura is derived from real pro recordings, and is designed to preserve the tone of your acoustic guitar. The Aura VT Enhance is also equipped with an automatic search-and-destroy notch filter to latch onto feedback and eliminate it after a few seconds.

World-class tonewoods for a big sound and look

Classic Martin guitars have used spruce tops and solid mahogany backs and sides to create a warm, mids-focused tone that is popular for accompanying the human voice without being too powerful in any one frequency. The GPC28E steps out in a bold direction with back and side woods made from East Indian rosewood for additional brightness and projection. The Sitka spruce top has a wide tonal range with excellent projection and articulation for both strumming and fingerstyle playing. These solid woods will make your GPC-28E age gracefully with better harmonics and balance over time.

Martin GPC-28E Grand Performance Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • Acoustic-electric guitar with onboard Fishman electronics
  • Sitka spruce top for power and clarity
  • East Indian rosewood back/sides for brightness and projection
  • Low oval mahogany neck with articulate ebony fingerboard
  • Fishman Aura VT Enhance electronics capture your true acoustic tone
  • Single cutaway offers access to the higher frets
  • Built-in feedback reduction

Absolutely Amazed!!!

I have owned a Martin OMCPA3 for two years and have loved it. But this new model - essentially the D-28 in all of its specs except for forward shifted bracing and a Grand Performance body shape absolutely stunned me. I couldn't put it down. Incredible volume, fabulous overtones (more than the D-28) but not as over the top as a Taylor 814CE. Hits that perfect middle ground. YMMV as tone is always subjective but I am in love. Full F chords, barre chords, etc, so easy. Just plays like butter and I haven't even adjusted the action yet. Came in at 2.25 at the 12th string low E (standard Martin setting). I am used to 1.75 but even at this height it is easier to play than the OM even. Just ooooooozes quality, richness and strong, bold, vibrant tonality. Sustains forever. I always wondered if the extra price was worth it. I am utterly convinced now. Thank you Martin. I LOVE this quitar. Just WOW!
