While the Hughes & Kettner GrandMeister 36 boasts an all-tube signal path, digital control over the parameters gives you the powerful ability to recall your favorite settings. There are 128 user presets you can use to save the tones you create in your studio, ready for instant recall on stage. And with four distinct amp channels (clean, crunch, lead, and ultra), plus built-in modulation effects and reverb, you've got an amazing sonic palette to work with in the GrandMeister 36.

With built-in delay, chorus, and other modulation effects, the GrandMeister 36 makes it easy to add some extra excitement to your tone. Although you may already have your own favorite effects pedals, you'll quickly find yourself adding these great-sounding effects to your tone presets for easy recall.

The GrandMeister 36 actually gives you a variety of power consumption options: 36 watts, 18 watts, 5 watts, 1 watt, and even 0 watts (more on that in a minute). Lower wattage means the GrandMeister 36 starts overdriving at lower volume levels, giving you access to cranked amp tones at civilized volume levels. It's perfect for recording and also for gigs where you're trying to reduce stage volume without sacrificing your tone.

Here's where the GrandMeister 36 really starts to show its prowess: the built-in H&K Redbox lets you plug directly into your PA or recorder with a great-sounding 4 x 12" emulated output. Most amplifiers that offer direct outputs still require a load on the amp, whether from a speaker cabinet or a load box. But with the GrandMeister 36 set to 0-watt mode, you don't need either. Just connect the speaker-emulated output to your PA or recorder, and you're ready for silent performance. You may soon find yourself leaving your speaker cabinet at home and taking only the GrandMeister 36 and your guitar to gigs.

Match up your GrandMeister 36 with the H&K FSM 432 MKIII MIDI controller footswitch (sold separately) and an iOS MIDI interface, and you'll have convenient hands-free access to all your presets and settings. But why not go high-tech? You can actually control your GrandMeister 36 via your iPad with the free iOS app (FSM 432 MKIII footswitch required, sold separately). You get full control over the GrandMeister 36's parameters including power-soak settings, effects settings, preset management, and much more.
