The Refreshingly Different Guitar

The Gretsch G5445T Double Jet with Bigsby is a solidbody electric guitar for the unconventional guitarist. If you march to your own drummer, you don't want to be seen (and heard) with the same axe everyone else plays. Enter the refreshingly different G5445T Double Jet. Gretsch started with a featherweight chambered basswood body and maple top, then loaded in two "Blacktop" Filter'Tron pickups, for great gobs of glassy grunt. Next, they spec'd a Bigsby vibrato - it would be blasphemous to have a guitar like this without one. With comfy playability, affordability, and unique sonics and visuals in its corner, the Gretsch G5445T Double Jet with Bigsby is a contender for your next guitar.

INCREDIBLE GUITAR

Before purchasing, I was a bit concerned about the sound & overall quality of this guitar; which is manufactured overseas. Don't let that stop you from purchasing this instrument! I have had mine now for several months and have nothing but praise for this guitar. The finish is flawless. The neck is comfortable. The bigsby action is smooth and it doesn't throw the strings out of tune when used. All controls are easily accessible and operate smoothly as well as offering a great range of tones. The filter'tron pickups deliver a full dynamic range ... from clear and bright to a dirty growl. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking to own that great Gretsch sound and quality.

Feels great, and has that sound you'd expect!

An avid AC/DC fan, I wanted something to get close to that Malcolm Young tone without spending a fortune. This was a good start, though it is a channeled solid body rather than a hollow body. I planned modifications to this guitar from the start, so the mods weren't due to shortcomings of the guitar itself. Out of the box, the guitar has a really good feel to it, and had the Great Gretsch Sound. I had zero interest in keeping the Bigsby so I ordered a Gretsch tailpiece that actually looks very nice on the guitar. I also removed all the pots and the switch and both pick-ups. I installed a TV Jones Classic Plus pickup in the bridge position, and only have two (new) pots installed. The neck pickup location is empty, and I don't think there is a discernable sonic difference with that area of the guitar being solid, but if I wasn't going to use it, it wasn't going it. A sharpie colored the holes from the Bigsby so that they are barely noticeable and the guitar has a very solid feel and is quite powerful, yielding a great crunch when a little overdrive is dialed in (Wampler Plexi-drive)

Great Guitar!

At first, I was skeptical of this guitar since it was made in China, but all the reviews I read were 5 stars. Sweetwater's 55 point evaluation was also a selling point for me. I didn't want to receive a guitar that had not been out of the box since it left the factory. Another thing I like about Sweetwater....the picture on the web site was the actual guitar they sent me. Cool! When I received the guitar it was stunning; no imperfections at all in the finish. The intonation was perfect. I did raise the bottom of the bridge because there was a slight buzz on the 1st string when I played past the 12th fret. No big deal. The sound is awesome! I play in a Worship group and this guitar is perfect for contemporary worship music. Add a little analog or digital delay and this thing sings. I had no problem with the guitar going out of tune after using the Bigsby. I didn't try any dive bombs, but adding a little shimmer with the Bigsby had no effect on the tuning. This guitar is a little neck heavy, but a good suede strap takes care of that problem. Again, a non-issue. If you're looking for a guitar that looks great, plays great and has that great Gretsch sound all for under 500 bucks, look no further. This is it!!

LOVE IT

Like someone said in another review I don't care where this guitar was made the workmanship is top shelf and just about plays it self. The neck and intonation was perfect even if I don't play it for weeks it is still in tune. This baby is a tone machine and will play anything from Jazz to Metal and surf to country. I own several other guitars Jazz Master, Tele and a Strat but this guitar is my favorite. I also own many amps but it sounds amazing thru a Roland 30 watt amp. But most of all I was very impressed with Sweetwaters check list on this guitar before it was shipped I would not buy else ware.

Gretsch G5545T

I don't care that this ax was made in China it is quite frankly one of the best playing and best sounding guitars I have ever owned.I own seven guitars five Epiphones, one tele and this Gretsch. I make an effort to play all of them but I find myself always grabbing the Gretsch and playing it firstand playing it until I don't feel like playing any more. Its just so easy to play.
