A High-gain Gretsch That Won't Break the Bank

The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway semi-hollowbody electric guitar was built for players looking for an affordable guitar that blends the identifiable Gretsch sound with high-gain rock tones. Two high-output, custom-wound Broad'Tron humbucking pickups effortlessly push amplifiers into overdrive, while the spruce centerblock in the body resists feedback at loud volumes. And a Bigsby licensed B-50 vibrato gives the G2655T subtle pitch control. The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior is a wonderful blend of old-school personality and new-school tonality.

Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway at a Glance:
  • Classic Gretsch appearance
  • Vintage and modern tones
  • Built with the player in mind
Classic Gretsch appearance

The G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior sticks close to what has made Gretsch guitars look so desirable over the years. A pair of F-holes displays the guitar's semi-hollowbody. And its thinline construction is very comfortable to play for long gigs. The G2655T is also decorated with vintage-looking, 2-ply white and black binding that wraps the entirety of the instrument. And the chrome hardware and pearloid block inlays ensure the G2655T will look as great onstage as it does hanging up in our Sweetwater retail store.

Vintage and modern tones

The G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior uses vintage-style construction and a modern electronics package to deliver tones that will fit equally well with a rockabilly band as it will through a high-gain amp stack. The semi-hollow design adds warmth and clarity to the guitar's tone. And a Bigsby licensed B-50 vibrato allows for Duane Eddy-style pitch bends. But the high-output, custom-wound Broad'Tron humbucking pickups are engineered to deliver screaming rock tones. Feedback is kept nicely under control via the body's spruce center block.

Built with the player in mind

Gretsch's G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior plays and feels every bit as good as it sounds. Its thin "U" neck profile is round enough that chording remains comfortable in all positions, while being thin enough to facilitate fleet-fingered runs. The thinline, double-cutaway construction is comfortable against your body, and it gives you unimpeded access to the guitar's highest frets. The controls have even been thoughtfully laid out to not interfere with your picking hand technique.

Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Center Block Junior Double Cutaway Features:
  • Semi-hollow guitar with high-output humbuckers
  • 2 powerful Broad'Tron humbuckers
  • Semi-hollow design adds warmth while resisting feedback
  • Bigsby vibrato allows for subtle pitch control
  • Thin "U" neck profile is comfortable
  • Vintage-looking ornamentation
The Gretsch G2655T Streamliner Junior blends vintage and modern rock tones with ease.

Love it!

Great move on Gretsch's part to come out with this model. An unbelievable instrument at its price point. After being so accustomed to my other Gretsches, the location of this one's neck joint almost makes it feel like you're playing an SG. Can't say enough good about it.

Wonderful Guitar at a Great Price!

I received this guitar yesterday in the beautiful Walnut Stain finish and am already blown away by it. I've owned two Gretsch guitars before: a G5435 Electromatic Pro Jet and G5420T Electromatic Hollow Body. Unfortunately, I ended up selling them for financial reasons. I have wanted to get another Gretsch since then, but a semi-hollow body model. In my opinion, you can't get any better than this model for the money. It is is just the right size and weight and is very comfortable to play. The bridge pickup has the bite and growl you expect from a Gretsch, although I'd say that the pickups are a bit hotter. Played clean, it has the classic twang you also expect from a Gretsch. The fit and finish are perfect, and I am incredibly pleased with the build quality. Also, the guitar stays in tune wonderfully, even after a lot of string bends and tremolo bar use. I highly recommend this guitar. A special thanks to Mark Magdich for his continued superior customer service. I would never order a guitar or any other music related item from another company other than Sweetwater.

Great value!

This guitar is the perfect size and weight! I love how comfortable it is and how much you get for the money. The bridge pickup has that bite and snarl you expect from a Gretsch. The binding on the body and. neck is not what I would have expected for a guitar in this price range.I highly recommend this guitar and Sweetwater's amazing customer service!

Incredible Guitar For The Money

Hands down this is the "Very Best" Semi Hollowbody Guitar being sold today for the money! There is nothing you need to upgrade on this guitar. She plays great, feels great and sounds fantastic! I have the Walnut Stain Model and i'm loving it! It weights 6.6lbs, stays in tune extremely well with the Bigsby and if you roll back the tone, these BrodTron pickups sound a little like the Duncan Vintage Blues pickups. Truly this guitar IMO is so much better than Ibanez and Epiphone hollowbody guitars so if you are thinking of buying this guitar, do it and buy it from Sweetwater because when you open the box there is no unwanted surprises, all you will find is a great guitar ready to play! Now for Sweetwater. My guy there is Mark Chapman. A Great Guy...He's always very helpful and always try's his very best to get me into what I need and want. He is half the reason why I shop at Sweetwater, the other half is their fair prices and service....

Poor man's Johnny A

I came across this guitar by chance while visiting a big box store. I've never been drawn to Gretsch guitars and in fact have been GAS-ing for a Johnny A to complement an ES-335. However the price of a JA and the inability to find one to try out before ordering have been obstacles. This guitar surprised me by addressing my GAS. First, it is surprising light, despite the block and Bigsby. Second, upper fret access is amazing, without SG-like neck heaviness (although the nut feels a little further out than on an ES-339). The fingerboard is wide and the neck medium; very easy to play. Acoustic tone is nothing special. The pickups, however, sounded great, though it will take me time to get used to their looks. One can get a warm jazz/blues sound from the neck pickup and a nice bright twang from the bridge; they are not excessively hot. Feels more like a hollowbody then a semi-hollow. The Bigsby was great - not something I'm used to but one of things I want to master. All in all, amazing value and about 1/10 the cost of a new JA.
