What kind of sound does the Catalinbread Fuzzrite Fuzz Pedal produce?

The Catalinbread Fuzzrite delivers the iconic, aggressive fuzz tones of the original 1960s Mosrite Fuzzrite pedal. Expect a raw, sputtering, and highly saturated sound that's perfect for garage rock, psychedelic, and surf music. It's known for its distinct, almost broken-speaker quality, offering a unique texture that cuts through the mix with vintage character.

How do I power the Fuzzrite Fuzz Pedal?

The Catalinbread Fuzzrite can be powered in two ways. You can use a standard 9V DC power supply (sold separately) with a negative-center barrel connector. Alternatively, it also accepts a single 9V battery, which is convenient for pedalboards without dedicated power or for quick setup.

What do the controls on the Catalinbread Fuzzrite do?

The Fuzzrite pedal features two main controls: Volume and Depth. The Volume knob adjusts the overall output level of the pedal, allowing you to match or boost your signal. The Depth knob controls the amount of fuzz and saturation, letting you dial in everything from a subtle grit to a thick, spluttering, and intense fuzz effect.

What is True Bypass and why is it important for the Fuzzrite?

The product specifications do not explicitly state whether the Catalinbread Fuzzrite Fuzz Pedal features True Bypass switching. However, True Bypass generally means that when a pedal is disengaged, your guitar signal passes directly through the circuit without any electronic components affecting its tone. This helps preserve the integrity of your guitar's natural sound when the effect is not active.

Get to know them!

Catalinbread and the Moseley estate have teamed up to produce a faithful reproduction of the classic 1960s Mosrite Fuzzrite fuzz pedal — a sputtery, brutish, and proudly dirty original. They ditched the battery switch, moved the Volume and Depth controls to the top side, and increased the size of the logo. The Catalinbread Fuzzrite Fuzz Pedal has just as much explosive garage grit as the original. Rotating the Volume to higher levels will start to overdrive your amp and add body to the fuzz, and the Depth knob lets you blend in a second silicon transistor gain stage with the first. If you keep it low, you'll get clean, fat tones; if you spin it up, be prepared for aggressive saturation that will eat your face off. Plus, it can be powered by a 9V battery or a 9V DC adapter (neither is included), so while it's optimally placed at the beginning of your pedalboard setup, it can be used independently, too.

Gear that makes you want to play

The self-avowed gearheads at Catalinbread focus on making musical devices that they want to use themselves — "gear that gets us excited and inspires us to play." The result of that authentic focus and unwavering integrity is the type of innovation that isn't market-driven; Catalinbread creates its own market for products players love, whether overdrive, delay/reverb, fuzz/distortion, or tremolo/modulation pedals (many of which are available at Sweetwater). The Fuzzrite is a great example of Catalinbread's exciting, inspiring innovation.
