This hyper-versatile stompbox delivers the full gamut of gritty textures, from vintage-style fuzz at lower settings to snarling, spitting cacophony at higher settings. Powerful 3-band, fully parametric EQ
If your guitar tone lacks mids, you’ll get buried. If you crank the highs too much, you’ll shred everybody’s eardrums. If you crank the lows too much, you’re bound to get scolded by your bassist. That’s why the FUZZ includes a 3-band, fully parametric EQ. A top-mounted Bass knob gives you +/–20dB of low-end boost/cut, while internal Bass Freq and Bass Q trimmers enable you to fine-tune your low frequencies. Top-mounted Middle and Mid Freq knobs give you +/–20dB of midrange boost/cut with convenient sound sculpting, while an internal Mid Q trimmer supplies fine control over your mids. Finally, a top-mounted Treble knob gives you +/–20dB of high-end boost/cut, while an internal Treble Q trimmer lets you really dial in your highs. Thanks to the FUZZ’s parametric EQ, you’ll sound amazing through any amp in any room — you’ll never get lost in the mix again!
Includes a universe of super-sounding octave-up effects
Aiming for early Hendrix-style tones with straight-up fuzz won’t cut it — you need an octave effect to really get your “Purple Haze” on. Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, and a stable of grunge-era guitarists also deployed this epic pairing with mind-blowing results. That’s why the Jackson Audio FUZZ includes a built-in octave circuit, making everything from pristine octave-up effects to glitchy, sputtery chaos within your grasp. You get plenty of control over the effect via Vol, Blend, and Oct knobs. At Sweetwater, we’ve found that adding a subtle octave-up effect to your leads provides a delicate tonal lift (a la Doyle Bramhall II), while cranking the Blend knob drenches your playing in mind-bending fuzzed-out psychedelia, especially with higher Oct knob settings. What’s more, positioning the Blend control fully counterclockwise acts as a boost, enabling you to slam your amp in true tone-bending fashion.
Replaceable fuzz circuit offers maximum customization
Every guitarist has their own individual tonal recipe. Old-school psychedelic rock aficionados dig their smiley-face-type fuzzes. Others chase later-era Jimi sounds. And then there are the Zeppelin-esque and Gilmour-ish tones, plus fuzz-drenched Corgan-style textures and Jack White’s oft-imitated garage-rock exploits. To accommodate the potential for an endless variety of tonal preferences, Jackson Audio outfitted the FUZZ with a replaceable fuzz circuit via analog plug-ins. This enables you to swap out this stompbox’s pre-installed Modern Fuzz without having to buy a new pedal. And since Jackson Audio is developing new plug-ins at an impressive rate, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for sonic exploration. Thanks to the FUZZ’s ultra-flexible design, discovering (and attaining) your signature tone has never been easier. Besides the pre-installed Modern Fuzz, the FUZZ pedal also comes with a Classic/Vintage Fuzz analog plug-in that’s guaranteed to elicit a sweet musical experience.
Note: While the FUZZ’s analog plug-ins are user swappable, installation requires that you disassemble the pedal, remove a pre-installed 18-pin module, and replace it with the new module.
