There wasn't a 10 star option so 5 will have to do. This amp can take whatever you throw at it, unrelentingly so. It's always at least 5 steps ahead of you but without drastically changing your tone. I've seen some subpar reviews out there and honestly I understand why BUT they are not really correct. If I had to choose one word to describe this head I'd choose "unforgiving" due to it's truly user driven potential. Basically what I mean is that if you can't do it, the amp won't do it for you. It reminds me of the old Genz Benz El Diablo guitar amps that got a bad rap due to bad players (lol), basically if you aren't a tone hunter you will not truly understand the capabilities of amps like this. If you're faint of heart go buy a regular solid state. Honestly I think even some tone hunters will be frustrated, so if you aren't a tonal warrior this amp may be too much. Greatest amp I've played, by far, and I've had the opportunity to play some incredible custom and mass produced amps. Really has a seemingly endless amount of tonal options, it's all in your fingers, equipment, and imagination! Buy it, love it, create masterpieces with it

GK Fusion 550

Being an owner of two other GK amps I purchased this one on Dave C. 's word and have not been disappointed one bit. Great amp and great tone and killer Sweetwater service.

Phenominal Tone!

Just got this amp after a lot of research into all the brands out there. Used it this last weekend first time and and was completely floored at the great tone! I ran it through a Hartke 4X10 XL cab and the tone was warm and clean. Lots of power and a lot of options in regards to set up with the two channels available. Motorized knobs are cool when switching between the two channels. They work quickly and move to exactly where you lef them. Best amp out there, a lttle pricey but worth every penny!

A fantastic amp!

Tons of power for that clean, potent low end. A hot tube preamp that ranges from clean and warm to all--out distortion. The classic "just right" GK eq controls. Motorized knobs that quickly and smoothly glide between two different settings. Most importantly, big fat tone. I have played (and own) quite a few great amps, but this has become my go-to. I play loud rock music, and this amp's 550 watts are louder and faster than 1,000 watts in any other head or power amp I have tried.

Happy I Decided on this One

I wasn't happy with my Ampeg's bland tone and wanted to search for something new. I decided on the Fusion 550 after some research, and I'm glad I did. It has great tube tone from the preamp while retaining some of the edgy tone I've heard from solid state GK's. This head is heavy duty and built like a tank. I have this paired with a SWR Workingsman 4x12 & 1x15 cab and it cuts through the mix great in live performances in small to small/medium size venues. I do wish it was a 1000w because in the medium size + outdoor venues I've played I do need to supplement my sound through the PA. One problem I have had with the amp is the preset recall causes some of the knobs to go haywire sometimes, causing all the knobs to get stuck at around 11 o'clock. But I don't use the preset recalls often so it doesn't really bug me but I did have to give it 4.5 stars because of this, otherwise it would have gotten 5.
