Fresh Low Sound, Comfortable Feel

Alternate tuning gives you thick, rich guitar tones! Pick up the Ovation Elite TX D-Scale acoustic-electric guitar, and get ready to hear music in a fresh way. This great-looking Ovation roundback instrument is tuned a full step below standard. That means, you can put a capo on the 2nd fret and go on and play it as you would any acoustic. But, take the capo off, and you have access to frets and powerful low tones you never could access before - unless you risked your guitar's setup or enduring floppy-string fret buzz by tuning down yourself.

The Ovation Elite TX D-Scale acoustic-electric guitar gives you a sound that's akin to today's popular baritone guitars. And since it has an extended scale length (28-1/3"), you'll enjoy that voicing while retaining the playing ease you love about your favorite 6-string acoustic. But, just because the Ovation Elite TX D-Scale is particularly special by design, it doesn't mean Ovation skimped on the tonal goods. This slick-looking guitar features a A-grade solid spruce top, scalloped "X" bracing for sustain and power, multiple sound holes, a rock maple neck, and a comfortable natural satin neck finish. There's even an Ovation OP Pro preamp and an OCP-1K pickup to get those rich tones when you're plugged in and performing onstage. Great guitar!

Beautiful tones

This is my most versatile guitar. It can tune to D, 1 step down, or with medium gauge strings I often tune it down to C,, 2 steps down. Tuned down to B, the strings flop a little, but I have used a baritone set to good effect. The tone is wonderful and sonorous, with a piano like quality on lower notes. Amplified it sounds even better with the Pro Preamp. It's fun playing in better keys for my voice when tuned to C, plus I always get a lot of admirers after the gig wanting to know about the guitar.

Absolutely worth the $! A joy to play...especially amplified.

Ovation EliteTX D-Scale

I bought this D-scale guitar to supplement a high end custom steel string. This is a fun guitar to play and does exactly what I desire. It is sturdy, appears well made, and for the price is an incredible bargain.

Baritone Beauty

I lusted after Ovation's more expensive baritone offering for years but just couldn't justify the cost -- when this more budget-friendly version came along, I went for it. I'm glad I did. It's not as pretty but it sounds great. Yes, you can play this Ovation in D, should you desire, but it has a true baritone scale so it can be tuned down to B or even A, with the appropriate strings. And it sounds good down there, just enough brightness and snap to make those low notes sparkle a bit,. Sounds fine played finger-style...so who needs a bass?

Unusual and Fun to Play!

Playing it in the D tuning is a blast but I usually capo it at 2 so I can play along with the kids. The bottom line is we needed another guitar and the D-Scale gave us an added option for our money. Plus the sound is great as long as you keep fresh strings on it and the electronics are good too. Sounds great through my Vox and my Marshall. The neck feels good and it is aesthetically a pretty instrument. Lots of people play my guitars and they all love this one. The only downside is it is hard to find one you can play before your purchase. It's a leap of faith but I'm glad I did it!
