Driven by an EL34-fueled, British-flavored Black Voicing, the XTC 104BV’s familiar Green, Blue, and Red channels are joined by a new Purple channel — the Zero Channel — which is capable of eminently ear-grabbing pushed cleans and mid-gain grit. Moreover, a streamlined layout of controls, switches, and connectors, which includes a front-panel Master Volume, enables you to achieve crystalline cleans, crunchy blues, and raging distortion with equal confidence. Four footswitchable channels with ample tone-shaping
At Sweetwater, we’ve found myriad tones lurking inside the Ecstasy 104BV; its four footswitchable channels range from glassy, high-headroom cleans to blistering, high-gain cacophony — plus all points in between. Channels 0 and 1, the Purple and Green channels, respectively, share common Bass, Middle, and Treble controls, while each offers individual Gain and Volume knobs, along with a dedicated 3-position Pre EQ switch tailored to each channel’s voicing. Additionally, Channel 0 includes a scooped voicing option for added tonal flexibility.
Meanwhile, Channels 2 and 3 feature individual Gain and Volume controls and optimized 3-position Pre EQ switches, reinforced by shared Bass, Middle, and Treble controls. Both the Plexi-style Channel 2 and the ’80s-style Channel 3 feature a dedicated Blue–Red gain structure selector, giving you access to a wide range of classic and modern tones. Additionally, both channels include individual Modern mode switches.
Beyond that, you’ll benefit from global tone-shaping tools, such as a common Tone Shift for tailoring the EQ response, a Depth control for adjusting the power amp’s low-end thunder, and a Presence knob for fine-tuning high-end clarity. Reinhold Bogner: the man behind the amps
Although Reinhold Bogner began designing and building amplifiers long before leaving Germany for the US in 1989, his career truly took off soon after arriving in Los Angeles. He quickly gained the trust of many influential players, including Steve Stevens, Dann Huff, Allan Holdsworth, Michael Landau, and Steve Vai, who sought out his skill at modifying and custom-building their amps. Eddie Van Halen entrusted Reinhold to overhaul and revitalize his number one Marshall Plexi — with great results. Soon after, Bogner Amplification was born, and the rest, they say, is history.
