Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky Round Wound Bass Strings

Ernie Ball strings have been a top choice for players of all types since the early 1960s, when guitarists came into Ernie Ball's music store, customizing their string gauges to make their axes easier to play. After fruitless attempts to interest major guitar manufacturers in a lighter set of strings, Ernie Ball decided to start making his own. When you open a pack of his strings today, you know you're getting a quality set of strings designed to give you great tone, reliable performance, and long life. You can't go wrong when you string up with Ernie Ball strings!

Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky Round Wound Bass Strings are heavily used by both amateurs and professional musicians. Made from nickel plated steel (NPS) windings wrapped around tin plated, hex shaped steel core wire, Slinkys produce a well balanced, all-around great sound, no matter what your playing style.

Outstanding Plus

Since I was looking to replace strings on my PRS Kestral Bass, that had the factory stocks from day one and had lost their tone, I posted on several forums(including talkbass and the prs forum) to ask and find out what other people used that owned this specific bass. Much to my chagrin, nobody responded. Except to recommend very high priced professional brands that were way above my budget. Crazy huh? Anyway, I found Ben's review right here on the Sweetwater website that sold me. Ernie Ball? Sweetwater? Free Shipping? Under my budget? No Brainer. Just put them on and as described they are a great upgrade from the originals. Thanks to Ben's review and Sweetwater we're a satisfied player.

As a direct string gauge replacement for my PRS Kestrel, these strings really brought it to life. They're so much more responsive and articulate compared to the stock strings PRS puts on their basses. Overall, they've improved my tone by leaps and bounds. They sounds nice and balanced for finger-style playing but also provide some nice, deep chunk for picking/more aggressive playing. My only gripe is I didn't put them on sooner.

Awesome Strings

I have spent a lot of time and money trying different strings that were the best of tension, feel and sound......After years of experimenting these are the answer to my quest. Great smooth feel, great sound, and the perfect amount of tension for pick playing. Best of all...The Price!!!!!

Another great Ernie Ball product.

I threw a set of these on my '68 Kay K-1B just because they were the cheapest one in my local shop and I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend a lot of money on fixing up a bass that might be a lost cause. I have since praised myself for that decision. The Hybrid Slinkys combine the high end of the Super Slinkys with the low end of Regular Slinkys to produce a range that will allow you to play everything from the blackest of metal to the lightest of funk. I'll be keeping a set of these on hand. Tonal Range: 10/10 Life Span: 9/10 Playability: 10/10 Price: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

Great Strings

Ernie Ball strings have been my choice for stings for over 20 years. I have played strings that sounded better but I have never found another brand that is as consistant and such a good value as Ernie Ball. They sound great fresh and when they start to fade I can adjust my attack and still make them sound good. They do not get all chalky, scratchy and tinny sounding as they wear out. I put regular Sinky's on all of my electric guitars and basses and I am confident in my strings on whichever guitar I am playing.
