Get to know them!

Ernie Ball Power Slinky Flatwound Bass Strings combine the silky feel of traditional flats with the power of Cobalt. Cobalt strings are made with a modern alloy formulation that attracts the magnets in your pickups better than other alloys, delivering higher output, better sound, and longer string life. Featuring a SuperBright Cobalt ribbon wrap, Cobalt under-wrap, and an optimized hex-core/wrap ratio, Ernie Ball Slinky Flatwound bass strings combine the smooth feel of flats with the growl and brightness of rounds. Bassists at Sweetwater love Ernie Ball Slinky Flatwound Bass Strings. We're confident you will too.

Incredible comfort and playability

When you string up with Ernie Ball Flatwound Bass Strings, you'll immediately notice the incredible comfort these strings offer. They're silky and pliable under your fretting fingers and just the right amount of string tension whether you're plucking or picking, letting you execute fast passages effortlessly. And on a fretless bass — let's just say you're in for a treat! Plug in, and you'll immediately notice increased power, beefy yet defined lows, improved midrange focus, harmonics, and sustain, and crisp highs.

Cobalt formula gives you higher output and better sound

In the 1960s, Ernie Ball practically invented "rock" guitar strings. And now, with Cobalt, they've re-invented them. After exhaustive testing of over 350 alloy combinations, the company ended up with an optimal formula that — as compared with conventional strings — gives you higher output, beefier lows with increased definition, improved midrange focus, shimmering harmonics, and more robust sustain. You get a brighter sound without inducing harshness by turning up the treble.

  • Beefy lows, with increased definition and growl
