Dial in your ideal tone and feel

Orange designed the Dual Dark 100 head to be an all-around amplifier in any situation. This flexible beast lets you choose between 30-, 50-, 70-, or 100-watt settings, so you can get the absolute most out of this amp on a loud stage, in the rehearsal room, or in the studio. A variable attenuator allows you to record with the same tone that you play with live without running the risk of blowing out your mics. The clean channel gives you treble, bass, and volume controls to get everything from warm cleans to spanky brights. You'll love the dirty channel's shape control; it takes you from classic rock EQs to traditional Orange EQs to modern metal EQs - all with one knob. The volume and gain knobs round out the dirty channel. Did we mention that this amps has tons of gain? We know gain at Sweetwater, and this amps has enough for even the heaviest of metal heads.

Flexible power section

The Orange Dual Dark 100 head comes loaded with five ECC83/12AX7 preamp tubes and four EL34 power tubes. The onboard effects loop is also tube powered (it uses a single ECC81/12AT7 tube). The result? Big, beautiful, classic tones! When you want to keep the volume at lower levels but need to make those tubes cook, choose the low-wattage setting. It's ideal for the studio or for quieter practice environments. Want to make some tube-flavored noise at a reasonable stage or studio volume level? Choose the 50-watt setting. You can drive the power tubes hard without driving the neighbors away. When it's time to hit the stage, go for the 100-watt setting.

Tweak your output tubes to create your signature sound

What makes the Orange Dual Dark 100 head so versatile yet so distinctive? Start with the power plant. This 50-watt workhorse comes equipped with four EL34 tubes for classic British tones. These tubes are capable of producing pristine clean tones, and they give the Dual Dark 100 a nice, tight growl at high-volume settings. They're perfect for this amp. Of course, if you like to experiment with tones, you can swap them with 6L6, 6550, KT88, or 5881 power tubes. It's your dream amp - only better!

Absolutely A Ripper!

This was the amp I have dreamed of ever since I found out about Valve/Tube amplifiers. I started out with a Peavey Vypr 120 watt tube amp which was and still is a great amp. This thing destroys. With the switchable modes 30/50/70/100 watts, you can dial in your headroom accordingly. The gain and channels on this amp are plenty to just go straight from guitar-to-amp and not use any pedals, however I found that I enjoy a lower gain setting on the amp (gain around 12-1 o'clock, channel volume around 11 o'clock) with a tube screamer type Overdrive pedal in front of the amp to hit the preamp section and give it a nice tight crunch as the amp is a bit bass ridden. Not a problem for me as I play in standard, drop d, and drop b tunings. This amp is my favorite. The attenuator is a great way to keep your tubes singing but lower the overall volume, I use it as boost for solos/leads and louder rip, roaring parts of songs. Takes pedals very well, effects loop rocks, options options options! Rock it!

Dual dark bwuaha!

This amp...just wow. I have got a few guitars and this devil delivers on every one no matter what tone i want. Clean....dirty....naughty it does it all! Ryan Wiltermood is my sound engineer and he turned me onto to Orange and I have never looked back!

Why is no one talking about this killer amp?

I've never been a fan of trying out equipment at the local guitar shops as it never seemed practical to dial in great tones in 5 minutes, etc. Until Sweetwater, I bought amps based upon reviews and investing in all name brands such as Marshall, Mesa & Peavey. Although I came across some nice amps during the last 20 years, I've never been blown away by an amp until now. Ryan Murray has been my sound engineer for a year now and after sharing many discussions of what I was looking for in equipment, turned me onto Orange. It's a brand that I doubt I would have never tried without Ryan's recommendation, but I'm glad that he turned me onto this one. I've read the knock on Orange for being a one trick pony, but this can do the crunch of a Marshall, easy to dial in metal, better than the dual rec, and awesome cleans with a turn of a dial. I play out every other week and the fact that this amp is so easy to dial in at any venue, allows me to focus on playing guitar and my gigs have been so much better. Anyone in the market for a new head should definitely give this a try. I love this amp and Sweetwater!!!!! Thanks Ryan.
