Add 2" Tape Tone and Effects to Your Pedalboard

Even in the days of 2" magnetic tape, achieving the characteristic odd-order harmonic saturation and classic tape effects to your live sound was a near impossibility. Strymon's Deco Tape Saturation & Doubletracker pedal not only makes these effects possible, it puts them on your pedalboard in an easy-to-access format. With the Deco, you can dial in the rich harmonics you crave, double your sound, and thicken it up further with natural detuning, or go even further with auto flanging, chorusing, or full-on tape delay. And, in true Strymon style, there are tons of adjustable parameters onboard the Deco, allowing you to dial in a wide range of fun and inspiring tones.

Strymon Deco Tape Saturation & Doubletracker at a Glance:
  • Two fully detailed tape deck emulations in one
  • Tap into classic double-tracking tape effects
  • Strymon: a philosophy of quality
Two fully detailed tape deck emulations in one

It's impressive enough that Strymon managed to pack one high-definition tape machine emulation in the Deco pedal, let alone two of them. But you don't have to dive deep to appreciate the quality of the Deco's processing - just roll up the saturation control and bask in the warm glow of the harmonic overtones. Up to about 10 o'clock, the Saturation effect is subtle, introducing the non-linear odd-order harmonics that make old-school engineers nostalgic for the days of 2" tape. Push the Saturation knob above 10 o'clock, and you achieve the effect of pushing the tape machine into the red. At 1 o'clock, the effect crosses over into lush and vibrant tape overdrive, which is absolutely amazing on your pedalboard, and when you blend in the Doubletracker sound in one of three unique modes, the range of thickening effects is absolutely astounding.

Tap into classic double-tracking tape effects

Tape overdrive is just the beginning of what the Deco has in store. In the Doubletracker section, you'll find additional controls (both on the surface and "hidden" in the secondary knob functions) that allow you to add flanging, chorusing, slapback delay, and vintage tape echo to your tone. The Wobble control also serves to spice up your effect, adding a range of character from mild detuning to surprisingly musical chaos to your sound. You can also widen the stereo spread (the Deco, like most Strymon pedals, can run in stereo or mono), add auto flanging, and filter out highs and lows to better contour the effect.

Strymon: a philosophy of quality

Strymon pedals are quickly becoming an industry standard in professional-quality effects. They're dedicated to offering exceptional customer service and, in their own words, making "gear that sounds better than anything you've ever heard." This California-based company uses only the highest-quality components and powerful processors in their pedals. And each design offers more tweakable parameters than meets the eye for fine-tuning your tone. This construction and sound quality is the reason Sweetwater is impressed with Strymon, and why you find their pedals on the pedalboards of professional musicians around the world.

Just like the 70's

This takes me back. I remember recording on reel to reel tape decks from various sources and this pedal recreates that experience. Strymon does it again!

Analog Warmth

Strymon makes great effects and this is no exception. Add a little tape saturation for warmth or more so for a fatter overdrive effect. Dial in the old slap-back of yesteryear rock-a-billy and also a nice moody flanger or chorus effect all in one box of goodness! Dial in the analog sweetness of the old Roland space echo or slightly out of phase studio tape effects without the hassle of having to worry about the actual tape heads in this sturdy digital stomp box. It's built tough and sounds great. I think its one of those effects that may get a lot of use as you can really dial in so many awesome tones. Buying from Sweetwater is one of the smartest moves you can make. I work for a pro-sound shop and found out that we have been buying from Sweetwater for years! I used to buy from other well-known guitar sites and the customer service is night and day! Now I know why my company has them on speed-dial! Thanks to my sales rep., Mike Picotte who goes the extra mile to keep Sweetwater on the top. I know his non-stop work ethic as I emailed him well past closing time and he immediately responded. I work hard for my company so it's refreshing to find another soul who does the same. Maybe his bosses don't know how hard he works but for sure his customers do!

Strymon Deco

....From Subtle to over the top, with tone complexity of Studio grade equipment at four times the price. The Deco, excels on the floor, in front of your amp for full range overdrive, for "roots" and Brit invasion/ Alternative pre-amps and/or with Gorgeous doubled to slapback to long delay sounds. Also one of the best "Thru-zero" flange sounds in the industry. Tough enough for floor stomping, and clarity to run the full mix through.....I've beat mine up for a year, These guys gave excellent service, and prompt delivery. (Bonus: run EDM rhythm tracks for FATNESS, through the saturation side, and Guitar tracks the same way for Tape machine mid-range punch

Great Pedal

Great warmth and sounds. The blend nob gives a great mix with the guitar amp's sound and the effects. I d I have never met a Strymon product that that wasn't designed with the highest caliber and sound quantity.

STRYMAN DECO TAPE SATURATION and DOUBLE TRACKER

I purchased the Stryman Tape Saturation and Doubletracker pedal and I am very happy with how this product enhances my Digitech GSP 1101 Preamp and Processor sound The quality of the GSP 1101 tube amp simulations are very good sounding. Having owned several collectible fender tube amps ( fifties tweed deluxe , brown princeton, mid sixties super reverb and an early sixties bassman head) found the Fender Marshall Vox, Hiwatt, to mention a few very convincing.) when I recorded these sounds direct into Reason I could hear the difference between recording with a mic in a room and the direct signal. I purchased the Deco applied it to my signal chain the result were exultant. The directly recorded sound came alive in a most convincing way.. I believe that the Stryman Deco could be used to do all of those cool effects that one can accomplish with two tape machines. I have not yet investigated that aspect of the pedal yet. But this is not my interest in this well conceived and designed pedal. The subtle compression occurring in over saturated tape and subtle harmonic distortion brings the sound to life when including the nearly transparent double tracking. This peddle isn't about Thors smashing hammer, it is the magic pixie dust that breaths life in my guitar sounds My great amp sounds now have come to life when using the Deco peddle. As usual I do my business with Sweetwater sound, because of the friendly supportive and knowledgeable support staff and unusually high quality customer service. When I make all of my purchases at Sweetwater my purchases arrive promptly . Sweetwater Musics customer service skills are second to none they have consistently done a great job and have a huge selection of high quality products, that's why I do my business with Sweet Water Sound The Strymon Deco is a great addition to my recording environment.

Sweetwater Advice

Deco Tape Saturation and Doubletracker

Like all Deco's controls, the saturation knob is perfectly voiced, with usable sounds throughout its compass. Someone at Strymon clearly spent many painstaking hours fine-tuning the range and taper of every control. That attention to detail matters - it's nearly impossible to dial in bad tones here, and the sounds you're seeking always seem to fall right under your fingers....
