Beyerdynamic DT-1770 Pro Stereo Headphone

I didn't expect the DT-1770 Pro to be any more than another good mid-priced headphone, but it surprised me with a sound quality that rivals planars in bass response, has a liquid-smooth midrange, and a neutral treble with sparkle and detail that ranks with the best dynamic headphones I've heard, bar none. Physically, the DT-1770 Pro is the best of Beyerdynamic - a sturdy high-quality build with great comfort, and enough adjustment in the well-padded headband to not only fit virtually any head, but to also allow immediate portability by pulling the earcups down to wear around the neck when not on the head. Isolation is good, leakage is almost nonexistent, and the detachable cable is a common mini-XLR type. I highly recommend the DT-1770 Pro for home use or professional use, since the design for accuracy and neutrality doesn't compromise its musicality for extended listening.

Great tracking headphones

I use my DT1770 for tracking vocals. Vocals are easy to hear and clear while tracking. That's very important to get a good performance. Also have no problem using them for mixing. However I do check in with my Sennheiser HD800 befor bouncing. I also have two DT770, but the DT1770 is in another league. Much clearer and much more open sounding. Especially vocals stands out. DT770 sound harsh and small compared to the DT1770. Only issue I have is that they squeak if moving the head to much. However all closed headphones I'v tried has this issue. Thumbs up!

Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro Studio Reference Headphone - Over Ear, Closed

Excellent tone from bass to crisp trebles and great clarity even at the high volume levels this set is capable of. Ear cushions take a little practice to change over quickly but will probably be a non issue once you decide which you prefer, the leather or cloth. The tension on the headband could be less but is easily adjusted. I can't imagine needing or wanted anything better as these Beyerdynamic DT 1770's blow away every headphone I have used tried or used. I believe these will be my last set.

Premier Beyer Headphones

Excellent closed headphones from BeyerDynamic. Balanced and articulate sound, fairly comfortable on ears tho its not a light set and the headband never lets you forget its there. Nothing closed beats it for balance and resolution and accuracy. Could be used confidently for mixing and mastering. 2 sets of pads, one is typical fabric type and one is pleather, and they are fairly easy to swap. When using the fabric pads you'll notice a more flat sound with less articulation in the trebles. When using the pleather pads you'll notice a slight, very slight decrease in mids and slightly more treble articulation,, with regards to pads its the best of both worlds. I would recommend that , if you can afford them, buy the open-back Audio Technica R70X and these Beyer 1770 Pro's, as these are THE absolute best open and closed headphones that you can buy for mixing and mastering as well as audiophile enjoyment in particular. Pair these with the simply marvelous Roland Mobile UA and you are set for life as you will have purchased the best and most affordable "headphone monitoring setup" you can buy for studio use as well as personal music listening enjoyment.
