HVLT maple shell
DW's Horizontal Outside + Vertical Low Timbre Inside (HVLT) shell uses the same stacked vertical-grain wood ply orientation as its groundbreaking VLT arrangement, for a lower tone with no compromise to resonance or attack. But DW found that by incorporating a horizontal-grain outer ply, the shell's tension was increased for a fuller low-midrange punch — great for getting those backbeats to pop through a mix.
