The Overloud Comp LA Optical Compressor Plug-in Suite places the power of two classic optical compressors at your fingertips. This plug-in is a member of the Gem family and gives you access to the Comp 2A and the Comp 3A. The 2A — a favorite among the audio engineers at Sweetwater —has a warm and rich tone with noticable overtones. Its little brother, the Comp 3A, emulates the clean solid-state sound with a noticeably quicker attack. This plug-in also has added features such as separate Mid-Side processing, LF Sensitivity, and harmonic generation control. Choose between tube and solid-state emulation
Comp 2A
The Comp 2A is an emulation of the the original optical compressor that you've heard on your favorite classic tracks. The 2A creates rich harmonics characterized by its tube operation. Like the original unit, it has a slower attack time than the 3A.
Comp 3A
The Comp 3A is based on the solid-state version of the 2A. This emulation showcases an exceptionally clean solid-state tone and limits the amount of overtones you'll experience. It has a U-shaped frequency curve and a faster attack than the 2A.
Added features
When they designed the Comp LA, Overloud decided to add some improvements that were not available on the original hardware units they modeled. Overloud added built-in Mid-Side processing, harmonic generation control, and LF sensitivity. You can compress the Mid (mono) or Side (stereo) portions separately, along with parallel compression without an external bus or MS matrix. Harmonic generation controls harsh harmonics from external devices such as synthesizers or acoustic instruments. LF Sensitivity control allows low frequencies to pass through the compressor without being squashed beyond recognition. These innovative controls allow you to use your Comp LA compressors in many more ways than before.
