A timeless combination of top-class tonewoods
PRS instruments are revered at Sweetwater for their treasure-grade timbers, and this PRS Custom 24 “Birds of a Feather” more than lives up to that lofty reputation with its Private Stock-inspired tonewood upgrades. It all starts with a lively mahogany neck, capped with a fingerboard of ebony and figured maple. These two world-class materials are expertly arranged into a “Birds of a Feather” inlay package that, until this limited-edition Custom 24, had been strictly reserved for PRS’s Private Stock instruments.
Next, the Artist Grade figured maple top beams with complex figuring and eye-catching grain patterns. In classic PRS fashion, the top is then supported by a lively mahogany body that rounds over the crisp bite of the maple top with a warmer, richer timbre. It’s an all-time classic tonewood duo that harkens all the way back to the 1950s, championed for its full-bodied response and prodigious sustain.

Short for “Dynamic, Musical, Open,” the DMO Treble and Bass pickups — mounted in the bridge and neck positions, respectively — represent a wealth of boundary-pushing possibilities. Paul and his team utilized state-of-the-art advancements in both signal analysis and tuning technologies to harness the magic of myriad vintage pickups and reimagine them as a constellation of tone-crafting capabilities, conjuring transparent vocal character and shimmering, precise sound in every register.
Pattern Thin neck profile
This Custom 24 “Birds of a Feather” has a set-in mahogany neck carved into PRS’s fan-favorite Pattern Thin profile. The Pattern Thin profile is a contemporary version of the traditional Wide Thin neck. At the nut, it measures 1.68 inches wide and fits any palm perfectly. Play your way up the neck, and you’ll appreciate how the profile widens while maintaining the same depth. In fact, the Pattern Thin’s depth only increases by about a millimeter from the first fret to the 12th.
