Great for recording a variety of sources
With the BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage 2 in your mic closet, you can rest assured - you've got an incredibly versatile mic, ready to tackle nearly any source. On vocals, you can get a "big" vocal sound, without worrying about overloading the mic, an incredible clean guitar sound on your electric amp, and a well-suited shimmering high-end on acoustics! With its natural highs and soft mid-range characteristics, your Stage 2 can handle nearly any member of the bowed string family, and its extended high end delivers a modern tonality when miking saxophones and other wind instruments!

Compatible with BLUE Bottle Caps
Expanding the possibilities of your BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage 2, this mic is fully compatible with BLUE's acclaimed Bottle Caps, letting you interchange your capsules. Enjoy a new tonal range as you try out larger or smaller diaphragm capsules with varying pickups patterns on different sources.

PowerStream power supply
Most tube mic power supplies apply both heater and plate voltages simultaneously once power has been switched on, attracting electrons from the not-yet-heated cathode - potentially causing cathode stripping, which can wear out your tube and makes it noisier. BLUE avoids this problem with their PowerStream power supply system that delivers the tube's heater voltage first, and prevents the heater current from exceeding the limits for which the tube was designed.

I'm very glad that I bought microphone at Sweetwater, because you are cheaper than other shop as the same commodity . And thank you very much .

Big Blue Sound!

Totally agree with the previous review. It takes a little while to get used to the sensitivity and power of this mic but well worth the effort. Having owned the Stage 1 and used the Big Bottle, I would put the sound right in the middle of those 2 products, with the clarity of the Stage 1 and the smooth, big sound of the Bottle. The one thing that this mic has is versatility with all the different Blue, Violet Design and vintage Neumann capsules that are available to use on this mic. It comes with the B8 capsule which I never used on the Stage 1 but comes alive on the 2. We already had the B6 (the Blue sound) and it sounds even better on this mic. The Violet and Neumann capsules turn it into a classic, vintage mic unavailable without mortgaging the house. Just add a Neumann M7 capsule and you have one of the great classic mics of all time the Neumann CMV563. With the trend to getting lots of mic sounds out of one system, this is another option, more expensive but a great investment. Thumbs ups on the whole purchasing process! No one does it better than Sweetwater, with great financing options, support service, and super fast, free delivery. Sounds like a commercial but that's my experience!

A Great Sounding Tube Mic

This mic is VERY sensitive and requires a solid understanding of gain structure, mic placement, and mic technique to attain it's true potential (I suppose this can be said of any mic, but the Bottle Rocket Stage 2 is less forgiving). It took me a few days to uncover the subtleties of how to get the best sound out of this mic, but once I crossed that bridge the results were well worth it. I usually run the Bottle Rocket Stage 2 through a UA Solo 610 preamp. This has yielded wonderful results, especially with vocals and the live miking of acoustic instruments. In my observations the mic's tone greatly improved after a few weeks once the tube had burned in, lending a syrupy character to my recordings. Vocals through this mic are silky smooth and sit wonderfully in the mix requiring only minor tweaking with EQ and reverb. Room miking delivers a pretty detailed and realistic sense of depth; in fact it’s sometimes hard to distinguish between the air in the recording and the sounds of the room you're in. This level of detail is a gift and a curse; the mic will highlight the nuances of a great performance, but will also capture the minor flaws of a mediocre performance in stunning detail. The ability to swap out capsules is an added bonus. The Bottle Rocket Stage 2 ships with the B8 capsule (a great all purpose capsule) and even comes with a rebate from Blue for a free capsule. I would recommend picking up the B6 capsule, which adds a subtle touch of brightness that cuts through the mix better, especially on vocals. If you're in the market for a smooth sounding tube mic you can't go wrong with a Bottle Rocket Stage 2. Highly Recommended.
