Bass Driver Punch with Expanded Tone Controls

Bolster your bass tone with a Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 preamp/direct box pedal. Based on the classic SansAmp bass pedal at the heart of countless live and recording rigs, the SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 delivers an expanded range of tonal control ideal for modern bass rigs. Those of us here at Sweetwater who play 5-string and 6-string bass particularly love the expanded low-end control, which lets you center the bass control on either 80Hz or drop it down to 40Hz. Likewise, you can set the SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2's midrange frequency to accommodate a wide range of pickups, and with both XLR and 1/4" outputs, this pedal is perfect for bass amps and PA systems.

Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 Preamp/Direct Box Pedal at a Glance:
  • Drive and Presence controls deliver hard-hitting sound
  • Shape your bass tone with EQ and blend controls
  • Run direct or feed your amp with killer bass tone
Drive and Presence controls deliver hard-hitting sound

The SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 delivers an impressive range of tone-shaping options that let you get the most out of your bass. It starts with the drive control, which makes it easy to add heat to your tone, and when you crank it, you get a wooly distortion that can flesh out an otherwise anemic mix. Presence control brings out harmonic overtones to add the perception of loudness, without adding much volume - it's ideal for controlling slap bass tone.

Shape your bass tone with EQ and blend controls

For R&B bass, you may want to back off the Treble, while Bass and Mid controls with switchable center frequencies let you contour your tone for 5- and 6-string basses and a variety of pickup styles. Finally, there's the Blend control, which lets you go nuts with your tone and then mix in some of the unaffected DI signal for a more complex and coherent sound.

Run direct or feed your amp with killer bass tone

One of the things many of the gigging bass players here at Sweetwater love about the SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 is that once you have one, you'll never be without a usable bass rig again. That's because the SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 includes both 1/4" and XLR outputs. Want to feed your bass amp? No problem! Depending on your amp, you can totally bypass your amp's preamp and run the SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2's output directly into the effects return. Likewise, you can send the signal straight to the PA via the XLR output, and if you hit it with phantom power, you don't even need to worry about batteries or AC. And thanks to the parallel output, you can even do both, sending the affected signal to the PA while feeding your bass amp with clean signal for stage monitoring.

Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 Preamp/Direct Box Pedal Features:
  • A powerful tone-shaping tool for bass players of all styles and setups
  • Drive control lets you add heat and hair to your basic bass tone
  • Presence and treble control let you contour your top-end expression
  • Bass control with 40/80Hz switch accommodates 4-, 5-, and 6-string basses
  • Mid control with 500/1000Hz switch lets you adjust for pickups and technique
  • Blend control lets you mix in unaffected signal for added clarity
  • Choose between 1/4" instrument signal and XLR line-level outputs
  • Parallel output lets you send clean signal to your onstage amp
Contour your bass tone with a Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2!

Leave your amp rig at home

I have used these for a while and love the new updated version, which works great in any situation. I most recently used the new version with a Ric bass and wow what a combination. I could dig into the bass and get a nice, naturally compressed growl out of this. Ease up and clear as a bell. Truly responds to playing technique like a good tube bass rig. No joke and no exaggeration. I use in ears in a worship context and this is a dream rig. I also use to record and it is just outstanding. Not a bad sound in this box, and the active tone controls cover a lot of ground. Don't let the fact that this pedal has been out there for many years now. It is a standard and this new version perfects an already fantastic design. Get one now!

Sansamp with MID Controls!!

Do you ever wish you could just plug in and instantly have an amazing bass tone? If so, the Sansamp BDDI V2 is the way to go. Its very versatile and can be used for any style of music. The major complaint about the original Sansamp BDDI was that it had no mid controls. This version not only offers variable mids (500hz or 1000khz), but also lows (40hz or 80hz). Using the blend controls, you can dial in exactly how much amp and cabinet simulation you want. I'm not a big fan of the drive control anywhere past 10 o'clock, but I don't really use it as an overdrive pedal anyway. I just dial it in to get a little bit of grit. In conclusion, with the Sansamp BDDI V2, you get that consistent, magic, studio bass tone wherever you plug and play.

Sansamp Bass Driver

If you play bass, whether your plugging in directly to a board, PA or amp, this pedal is a must and is TOTALLY AMAZING. You CANNOT get a bad sound out of this pedal. Tech 21 Sans amp, preferred equipt of Geddy Lee

My Favorite Pedal

The SansAmp V2 is truly a remarkable bass preamp/DI pedal. I have used this for multiple recordings and I always have it while playing live as a preamp going into my GK head. It adds that "studio tone" that just makes any bass sound phenomenal. I have used this through a wide range of basses from an Ibanez SR300 to a Fender American Elite and the results are a truly gorgeous sound that, in my opinion, is difficult to surpass regardless of the bass plugged into it. If you're looking for that "studio/smooth tone" and are currently bass shopping, try this little box out first and you may be surprised *thumbs up*..............You know what, you should get that new bass you've been eyeballing too, you deserve it!

Never Say Never!

I've had a love/hate relationship with various other SansAmp models that I'd purchased in the past, and always ended up selling them. I really "never" planned on owning another one. But...about a year or so ago I bought a SansAmp VT Bass DI and immediately loved it. Recently I needed another preamp for different board/band/venue, so I started trying out some other preamps and pedals. Somewhat reluctantly, I decided to give the new Bass Driver DI (V2) a try. This one blew my mind and has become my main preamp/modeler/EQ/DI. Whatever they (Tech 21) changed in this Version 2 model, has won my heart and provided me with a box I can use live in big venues, little venues, in the studio, etc. Many thanks and kudos to Jon Gillespie for all his assistance (and patience) in helping me arrive at solutions to meet my needs, not just this time, but many times over the past several years. Sweetwater, you're the greatest!!!
