Everything a bass player could ask for in a bass head

Ditch the bulk without sacrificing functionality. With the BH250, TC Electronic tosses aside the notion that you only get full-sized control from a full-sized amp. Seriously, photos can hardly convey how portable this little amp is. We're talking about a mere 4 lbs. in a unit that's easily small enough to fit in your gig bag. And when you see what TC Electronic managed to pack in the BH250 bass amplifier, you're totally going to flip. For starters, the BH250 has two gain modes, accommodating both passive and active pickups equally well. A standard 3-band EQ circuit also lets you tweak your overall tone, allowing you to dial in the perfect sound for any venue. Another great thing about the BH250 is the handy built-in bass tuner, which you can use to tune 4-, 5-, and even 6-string bass guitars. There's a balanced XLR output for running direct, and a headphone jack for silent practice. And as a final special touch, TC Electronic designed the BH250 to play well with any cabinet or combination of cabinets with at least a 4-ohm load, so you practically never have to worry about what you hook up to it.

TonePrint technology opens up a world of killer bass effects

By now, practically every serious guitar player has heard of TC Electronic's TonePrint technology. The BH250 takes this same super-flexible effects concept and applies it to bass. The way it works is simple. You just go to TC's website find the bass tone you want, and download it to your BH250 bass amp head for instant recall any time you want it. Choose from chorus, flanger, vibrato, compression, drive, or even a super-cool octaver effect. There's a handy blend knob that lets you control the wet/dry mix of whatever TonePrint effect you grab. Switching TonePrint effects on the TC Electronic BH250 bass amp is also a breeze, particularly if you have a smartphone. Then you just go to the TonePrint app, and browse for tones from there. You'll find all sorts of cool tones from top bass players such as Nathan East (Eric Clapton, Fourplay, Toto), Charles Cave (White Lies), Michael Shuman (Queens of the Stoneage), and many others. When it's time to load up your new tone, you just hold your smartphone's speaker up to your pickups, hit play, and let it do its magic. It's that simple.

TC Electronic BD250 Compact Bass Amplifier Head Features:
  • An ultra-portable bass guitar amplifier head that packs full-sized amp features into a compact frame
  • 250-watt amplifier that's capable of powering any speaker cabinet with at least a 4-ohm load

TC Electronics BH250

I love this little but powerful bass amp head. You can't beat the price for this little power house. Kurt, my engineer, gave me a couple options and I picked this one and I'm glad I did. You can't beat the Tone Print feature, don't need pedals and the on board Tuner even for 5 & 6 string bass. I can carry this in my gig bag It's not capable of a huge room by itself (big room yes) unless you mike it or go into a board. Sounds great too. I would definitely recommend this little jewel. I've had all kinds of equipment due to playing for 58 years and still rocking. This is not my only head.

MUCH better than I was expecting

I watched Uriah Duffy's video tutorial before I purchased this. Needed extreme portability. Tones are superb and the power is pretty impressive. I just throw it in my gig bag and go. Excellent product and reasonable price.

TC Electronics 250 amp

This is a great amp. It has plenty of power and great tone. I am a bass player and I need some light weight gear. This is great! I looked at the GK heads also, but this amp has a built in tuner that is very handy to have and the price is about the same. I also play keyboards and I use it for my Roland keyboard and it sound really good. This amp has the Toneprint downloads. You can download tones from your smart phone right into your bass pickups and then into the amp. It is very smart. It is built very strong. Allot of thinking went into this amp.....

BH250!!!! What are you waiting for?

With so many companies coming out with these compact heads now, I thought best to be patient and research, research, research!! After playing through a few, reading countless reviews, and process of elimination I finally.decided on the TC Electronics BH250.What a great sound this little mofo has. And the tonePrint is absolutely awesome. Once you download the app to your iphone there are tons of different pedal effects to choose from by the hottest bassists out there who custom designed each one.these are not fake sounding cheese effects, It comes out the same as having that exact pedal dialed in the way you like it. I added the effects that were most practical to me onto my favorites list and when I pull one up it takes mere seconds to send to the head. Easily done between songs!! So many things this little devil does and does well.. Go Get One!!!!! I paired with the tce 2x12 cab . All I need for volume and killer tone!!! TC Electronics are definitely winning over my loyalty

Lightweight, small and simple!

For me it was a great surprise something so small and with such power. I connected the two bh250 Handmade cabinet (1x10) and (1X12) 8 ohms each. He speaks well, with drums and guitar and the power it has not been used even by 60%, we play songs like classic rock and reggae. I really enjoyed the practicality, lightweight, small and simple. I need to test more in another configurations to relate better. About TonePrints, I think they can be effectively used with the footswitch and I do not have this accessory.

Sweetwater Advice

Mitch Gallagher

For years, bassists suffered immensely, forced to haul around massive cabinets and heavy amp heads in order to get the tone and volume they required. But today, that's all changed. Using modern technology, manufacturers are making bass amps and cabs that are both super light and super toneful. Witness the BG250 combo amp and BH250 head from TC Electronic: weighing in at a featherweight 35 pounds for the combo (with a 15-inch speaker, no less) and a barely noticeable four pounds(!) for the head, these amps each crank out an astounding 250 watts of wall-shaking power. These are full-featured amps with gain and output controls, intelligent contouring three-band EQ, a built-in tuner, a headphone out and an aux in (for your MP3 player), and more. Both amps feature TC's unique TonePrint technology, which lets you download effects presets into the amp using your iPhone or Android -- need a chorus for one gig and an octave effect for the next? No problem, you can load up whatever effect you want in an instant from your phone (or computer using USB). We took the BH250 onstage for a gig with The Mitch Gallagher Band playing heavy blues-rock, pairing it with a TC RS212 2x12 cabinet. Despite competing with high stage volumes from two guitars, keys, drums, and vocals, the TC amps had no problem keeping up, staying clean and clear even when pushed hard. The built-in DI output made it a snap to connect the head into the PA. I'll close with a quote from Chris Faith, our bass player (and Sweetwater's Print Product Manager), who was needless to say, enthusiastic: "The BH250 head is nothing short of a miracle! It can absolutely keep up with a band for anything short of a stadium gig. It's clean, simple to use, and sounds great. Did I mention that it weighs four pounds and can fit in a gig bag? Where was this when I was lugging around 60-pound heads? It's loud, musical, affordable, and portable. If you need a great head that won't break your back or your wallet, this is the amp for you!"
