Dual humbuckers and powerful active EQ for sonic versatility

The ESP LTD B-5 comes equipped with two ESP SB-5 humbucking pickups, which boast a wide response and low-noise performance. The real magic is in the B-5's active 3-band EQ, which gives you control over bass, mids, and treble frequencies to fine-tune your sound. And the balance control lets you blend between pickups, instead of just selecting one or the other. So even though the B-5 is primed for fast, aggressive playing, you can dial in a wide range of tones to suit virtually any music style.

Neck-through-body construction makes this bass sound huge

You may notice that the five-piece maple/mahogany neck runs through the whole length of the B-5's ebony-topped mahogany body. This design enhances vibration transfer from the neck and fretboard throughout the body, leading to richer tones and a faster, more articulate response. You also get incredible sustain, making the sound of the B-5 a force to be reckoned with.

Just Awesome!

The quality of this bass is amazing, it just feels so good when playing it, the sating finish is the way to go for long performances as it doesn't get sticky if you sweat, the active EQ could have been better (maybe a more dynamic range for mids) but I guess it is just what could be expected in a bass of this price.I ordered the 4 strings version at the beginning but it got back ordered and then it took longer than expected, Ryan Schmidt did an awesome job following up on it and we came out with the idea to get the 5 string at the end, he has always been great and very helpful, he is one of the reasons why I choose Sweetwater over anything else.

Worth buying for sure

First off this is the first instrument I've ever bought without playing it in person first. Guitar Center didn't have one in stock locally and I couldn't find one anywhere else nearby. I went with Sweetwater after a recommendation from a friend and I'm impressed. I got it yesterday and performed on it today. The action is super low and it's easy to play without buzzing, the sound is great, and it's beautiful. I got a bunch of comments on it today and it's easily one of the pretties basses I've ever seen. I don't know how ESP can sell a bass this nice for as cheap as it is. I was shopping around for a 5 string for a few months and this sounds like one of the $800-$1200 basses. Also the cutaway is really deep allowing easy access to higher frets and there was no buzz (nod to the Sweetwater setup) or intonation issues. Due to it's shape it only fits in either an open style case or the one from ESP. TL-DR great tone, beautiful looks, joy to play, don't be afraid to buy online.

I feel like a lumberjack with this axe

You just can't beat the PUPS. Tone control is right on and the fingering is exceptional with this neck and fret board. Balance is perfect and the tuning keys are smooth and stay tuned. Very little adjustments needed to be made to get the intonation perfect. Super buy for this piece of gear.

Too Sweet!

I have played bass guitar for 30 yrs.+, and feel confident in saying; that this is one of the most beautiful bass guitars I've owned. Plays as smooth as silk. Very deep bottom end, yet can be EQ'd for an array of beautiful & dynamic tone blends. It blows my mind how ESP can sell such a gorgeous and well made bass at an easily affordable cost. The sales & service personnel are top notch and very helpful. Steve Oppenheimer - made sure it was set-up and shipped the same day I ordered it. He even sent the professional photos taken of my bass.I also thought the "sweet treat" that ships with the bass was a nice touch. Kudos Sweetwater! You have become my Go -To Gear pros'.

Buy it!

This is the best bass I have ever owned period! I own many basses, most of which cost 3 to 4 times what this one cost. Any tone you want for any style can be instantly dialed in with minimal adjustment. The band and our regular audience were glowing about the tone of this bass. I played three different venues in three days through three different amps and had no problems getting my tone. The bass arrived with the best setup I have ever had on a bass. Kudos to Sweetwater. Absolutely no adjustments needed, and I always have to tweak something. I have been playing for 45 years in all genres of music. If you play with your fingers, use a pick, or slap and tap, this bass is for you.
