Second-gen signal path delivers superior sound quality

For many of us who first picked up an Apollo audio interface for the onboard UAD-2 processing, the impressive sound quality was a seriously nice bonus. Then again, Universal Audio has always been known for their top-notch analog gear. Now they've raised the bar again by upgrading the Apollo lineup's digital converters and refining the signal path even more. The results are absolutely astonishing, offering you superb stereo imaging with a level of clarity that gives your sound serious breathing room. Whether you buy it for the DSP, the high-speed Thunderbolt connectivity, or the sound quality itself, you're sure to be satisfied with your Apollo audio interface.

UAD-2 DSP delivers dedicated power for amazing plug-ins

Ask anyone at Sweetwater, and they'll tell you that Universal Audio's UAD Powered Plug-ins are some of the best-sounding virtual processors ever created. Apollo 16 packs UA's super-powerful UAD-2 processing, which lets you use UAD Powered Plug-ins at below 2ms of latency in real time! That means you can record, mix, and master with some of the best plug-ins in the industry, without requiring any external processing. You can also use the Virtual I/O feature to process virtual instruments and DAW tracks in real time too!

Thunderbolt gives you ultra-low latency and unrivaled bandwidth

You haven't experienced low latency until you've gotten your hands on a Thunderbolt audio interface such as this Apollo 16. But the Apollo 16 doesn't just benefit from the Massive track count and less than 2ms latency ultra-high-speed Thunderbolt 2 connectivity has to offer; it also lets you track and record with extremely processor-intensive plug-in processors, all without experiencing any significant stress on your computer.

Love this converter!

Replaced my silver 8 quad. Conversion is a very nice step up. I don't think about it anymore. Monitoring is fantastic as well. I don't use my Source DA for mixing anymore, just controlling the monitors. I have a bunch of outboard pres and what not and I love having 16 channels of i/o that sound this good. The dsp is a great feature to have as well. The UA console is easy to use and looks great. If I had to ask for anything it would be a few headphone outs, but that's about it. Love it!

Sold on it

Had a legacy Pro Tools TDM HD2 on a mac G5 system that went down in November 2016 that dated back to 2005 (alst update 2011). Called Sweetwater and was totally depressed knowing I'd spend $20k to replace my system's functionality without any real upgrades. Theny rep walked me through the Apollo 16 which can blend with both my Hearbus personal monitoring system and my Dangerous Dbox Analog Summing through two DA55s, as well as having Analog outs. Took me about 1.5 days to get the new system and software running smoothly and to educate myself on Apollo's Console go between, etc, but I'm sold. The sound is fine, zero latency, the UAD plug-ins are truly fantastic, with the EMT140 a unique and great verb and their Oxford EQ is better sounding than the old Sonnox version I had. Total outlay including a new computer was about $10k, not $20k. I'm impressed on all levels, and I haven't even really started diving into the other plug ins yet.

Awesome interface!

My new Apollo 16 is the finishing touch to my home studio. Along with my Apollo quad gives me 32 inputs and outs. My mixes never sound better!Big Marv

This is all I need..! This is a beast & I'm glad I purchased it.. Tom Maxwell is one of the best sales rep & I really appreciate him.. The convertors in the 16 is so full, phatt & very very detailed, I can hear everything that I had trouble with before & now I'm just n awe. My HS8 & Behringer Truth B3031A Sounds wonderful & its all because of the AD/DA convertors coming from the Apollo 16; I have a great system now thats the BF Apollo 8 Quad & the 16 & I'm very happy..I really really prefer the Apollo 16 over the D-box & its not to say the the D-box is not wonderful because it is but my preference is the 16; But I do plan on implementing the D-box in my set-up also, having the best of both worlds...

Oh so good

The converters are SO MUCH better than even the previous Apollos (I have a silver face Apollo too so I can A/B the sound). Based on my loudness measurements (iZotope - I was testing out my new setup to make sure things where working in good order) I'm consistently coming up with more dynamic range (loudness range) with greater clarity and punch at the same db meter readings. I'm truly amazed.
