Guitar Players can use IEMS too!

Ive gigged solidly with the AM PRO30s enough now to share what is hopefully usefull info to guitar players. Sound quality at this price point between the brands should be a wash or moot point to me. Its all going to be good along with the service. However, the functionality is immediately noticeable! I'm sure many guitar players can attest that isolated in-ears really destroy that stage sound mojo for lack of a better description. That was the case with me as well with a set of SE425s. Enter the AM PRO30S. The ambience or essentially lack of attenuation (13dB AM PRO to 37 SE series) is enough to breathe life back into the guitar tone and get a sense of space as you move around on stage and notice the volume sources getting louder as you move closer to them. I am hooked on what Westone is providing me and can honestly say that I would dread playing with a wedge again. There is a fault to the ambient series though as nothing is perfect. Due to that lack of attenuation, if you have anyone in your group who insist on blaring arena level stage volumes, these are not going to do you any good. The "ambience" will actually become louder than your mix. Case in point, played right on top of my drummer a couple weeks ago in a very bright sounding venue and really had to hash some things out on a set break and the issue was resolved. In the end, I still highly recommend the ambient series to any musician looking to make the move to IEMs, or not satisfied with their current IEMS setup. There is always room for improvement and these could be what you are looking for.

This is THE ONE!

I have used every system you can think of including ambient tubes from other manufactures. My latest choice was the 3D ARRO Active Ambient system from Sensaphonics - this is the system that has tiny microphones in each earpiece. While the Sensaphonics system IS awesome, the AM Pro is now my system of choice, because it has a more natural sound. I got the UM56 custom molds that fit on the AM Pro 30 and there is nothing like this. I put them in before the gig and don't have to mess with them again until after the gig. I never have to take one out to hear better - in fact I don't even know that they are in. I don't even take them out between sets. The sound on stage is so natural. I absolutely love this system. There is nothing that can touch it at any price.

Amazing clarity and low-end

Being able to hear the crowd is something I've always missed when using in-ear monitoring. These will not take the place of a wedge, however, for small venues and church services they cannot be beat. What ever the technology they use for these for ambient sound just works. Pricey but worth the investment.

Crisp and Beautiful

I was skeptical, but these turned out great! The clarity blew me away. They fit perfect and comfortable and the build quality is excellent!

ambience is the new norm!

I am one that hates this kind a stuff for live gigs! as a Guitar Player we go by our band dynamics, natural acoustic level surroundings and amp speakers pushing air etc.. Granted that IEM systems will never be like the real stuff. As a Guitar Player, stage volume issues have always plague us,sound guy's flash lights shinning on you from a far distance telling you to TURN DOWN!!! I needed something that I could still feel and hear the band around me as well as hear vocals and my amp without obliterating the audience around the first 5 rows seat in front of my amp. So after seeing it at NAMM show report this early January,I was very excited that someone finally came up with What I wish an in-ear should have!I'm DEFINITELY NOT DISAPPOINTED! my expectations were met and more. In fact,my beautiful wife who is an awesome acoustic player needed something for live gigs as well, borrowed my AM PRO 30,and is not giving it back! I'm placing an order for my second one.Thank you Scott Bennett(X1738) for being an awesome sweetwater SE. Scott is an awesome guitar player who plays live on a weekly basis as well as a recording enthusiast..
