With an amazing 149dB of SPL handling, and a dynamic range of 141dB, the Audio-Technica AT5045 is one of their most impressive studio microphones yet. You'll capture the full punch and impact of acoustic drums, and the full aggression of roaring guitar amplifiers. You'll also find the AT5045 is outstanding for delicate acoustic instruments, capturing every nuance from the quietest to loudest passages. When you're ready to mix, you've got a well-balanced, dynamic sound that holds up well to compression and EQ.

It's easy to position the AT5045 over the edge of your snare drum or toms without getting in the drummer's way. And it's just as easy to position the AT5045 inside a piano, over a percussion kit, or wedged between other microphones. Basically, the AT5045 fits into almost any mic application easily, keeping your setup time to a minimum.

You'll notice the AT5045 has a natural sound while also sounding exceptionally smooth. That's thanks to the transformer-coupled design, which adds a touch of character you won't find in transformerless mics. It's subtle, capturing cymbal brilliance without harshness, airy vocals that aren't grating, and so on.
