The sound of a Trident EQ in a plug-in!

NOTE: This product requires that you have an iLok account for authorization, although it does not require a physical iLok key. Please call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer if you have questions.

There are some boards that seem to just impart a bit of magic to everything that passes through them. One of these legendary boards is the Trident A-Range console. Only 13 original consoles were built, and these 13 boards have gone on to help shape the sound of many classic rock 'n' roll albums. Add the classic sound of the Trident to your DAW with Softube's Trident A-Range EQ.

With the Trident A-Range EQ inserted on a track, your audio is treated to four bands of EQ (with high and lowpass filters) pulled directly from channel 15 at Denmark's Sweet Silence Studio "B." The colorful tones conjured by the Trident A-Range EQ have been heard on such important albums as Metallica's "Ride The Lightning" and "Master of Puppets," and Ritchie Blackmore's guitar on the Rainbow albums "Difficult to Cure" and "Bent out of Shape." Now you can have that classic sound with Softube's Trident A-Range EQ!

Way more useful than you might think

Used subtly this can be an amazing mix tool to give something brightness without being harsh. That's pretty hard to find in the digital realm so this is a welcome tool for me!

Killer Guitar EQ Plug-in

As a recording hobbyist, I learn mostly by trial and error it seems, and I have spent loads of time fooling around with various EQs and such but only getting consistently uninspiring results. Well, I was immediately blown away by this EQ plug-in. It really brings out the aggression in my guitar tracks--exactly what I was hoping it would do. Easy to use and instant gratification! Fred Freda is spot on with his observations in his reviews. Couple this with Softube's Tilt EQ and you have a winning combo for great guitar tracks. I can see now why the hardware unit this plug-in is based on was used for Metallica's Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets albums. Epic!

Less Is More

With all the multi , quasi, expandable and ultimately re-configurable plug-ins to choose from and rack your brains on. It's nice to use something simple that just works. This EQ works best as a boost. The wide pre defined curves will not work well for surgical work but to sweeten a guitar or bass it's the best I have ever used. If your computer has enough juice to use Inserts on your input channel try using this as a can't miss EQ to fatten up and subtly color your sound, You will love the results.

Wasted cash

I was really excited about this plug and expected it would have the interactive/phase-y feel of the hardware but it doesn't. At this price it should, considering how cheap some far superior products are (variety of sound, sknote, nebula). Nice face plate though.
