Great bang for the buck.

I was looking for a 49 key controller without sliders or pads to control my SE-1SE rack synth. Choice is limited because most small controllers don't have 5-pin MIDI.This controller does not disappoint. It would be comparable in size to the M-Audio Keystation, but adds D-beem, 2 variable CCV controllers, 2 switch buttons, plus several other control buttons, and has Roland's X/Y type bender/mod stick. But the best thing about it is the feel of the keys...I would call them semi-weighted. They have good resistance, and the keybed is very solid feeling. By far the best feeling keyed of any controller I've owned or demoed, with exception of a hammer action model. For the price, I think this is the best thing going, and one of few options for controlling hardware via 5-pin MIDI.

Amazing

Had to get it to go with my Roland Integra 7 Super Natural Module! And loving every minute of it! If I choose a super natural sound I just push the button on the A-49 it's mapped out instant satisfaction! And love the D-Beam function my music has taken another level!

Sweetwater Saves the Day!

When I first received the A-49, I thought it was broken, because I couldn't get it to power up. Lo and behold, Sweetwater to the rescue. Someone there took the time to answer that question for another person.Once I got it to work (Hold down the , and while plugging the USB cable in) the keyboard is -AWESOME- Excellent feel if You like synth action. (I do. That's why I bought it)About Sweetwater: I wouldn't buy from anyone else. Their prices are the best, their people are top-notch.What more can I say.

Great addition to the FA-08

I used to gig with my Rhodes and a Juno 106 but as you can imagine they are heavy and temperamental. I just plug the A-49 into the FA-08 and i'm set. The synth-feel keybed feels great and the 2 mini knobs are good enough for cutoff and resonance. I really love that it can be powered by the FA-08 via usb.

Excellent product at a very reasonable price

I love this keyboard controller. I can attach it to my iPad Mini via the camera connection kit, or I can power it from my PC or even from a USB power adapter/charger. One note (not in the manual): to power it from the USB power adapter/charger, you have to hold down the pitch and assign keys while plugging in the USB chord. For the iPad (in the manual), hold down the S1 and S2 keys. The keyboard is light and therefore very portable. The keys are synth style and so are easy to play. I love the combined bend/modulator lever and the D-Beam for bending pitches etc. The keyboard is just lots of fun! You can get free software for the iPad from Yamaha that complements this controller such as NoteStar and Visual Performer. So, you can play along to your favorite tunes in NoteStar for example, though you do have to purchase the songs.I just play the controller as a hobby, but I am really pleased with the purchase. After purchasing the keyboard from Sweetwater, it arrived with a bag of candy (nice touch), two follow up phone calls from Sweetwater to make sure all was well, and a follow up Email: excellent customer service! So, I can recommend this keyboard, at least to a hobbyist like me.
