Nothing Rocks Quite Like a Fender Twin

Fender's '68 Custom Twin Reverb combo amp brings you everything you love about the classic Twin Reverb such as all-tube circuitry. But Fender went above and beyond to imbue the '68 Custom Twin Reverb with the character of the '60s original. Inside, you'll find custom-made Schumacher transformers, just like they used on the originals. The tube sockets are handwired, and Fender even reduced the negative feedback, which gives you exceptional touch sensitivity. No matter how you look at it, the '68 Custom Twin Reverb was made to play and perform like a classic.

Classic looks and design

Fender created the all-tube '68 Custom Twin Reverb combo amp as a tribute to the late-'60s Silverface amps. It's dressed up with the same style of faceplate and silver-turquoise grille cloth with aluminum trim. From the handwired tube sockets to the vintage-spec Schumacher transformers, the Fender '68 Custom Twin Reverb delivers the vintage-vibed tone and feel you would expect.

Two amps in one

Fender designed the 2-channel '68 Custom Twin Reverb with two very different voices. The vintage channel delivers the classic Twin Reverb goodness you know and love. The new custom channel is based on a modified Bassman tone stack for big, fat tones. The Fender '68 Custom Twin Reverb combo amp also lets you use the classic all-tube spring reverb and tremolo circuit on both channels.

Hot-rodded sound and response

The '68 Custom Twin Reverb isn't a reissue - it's a hot-rodded tribute amp. Fender designed the custom channel of this all-tube combo amp with a modified tone circuit that delivers greater tonal flexibility when used with your favorite effects pedals. They also reduced the amp's negative feedback to give it increased touch sensitivity, and it also starts to overdrive faster. The Fender '68 Custom Twin Reverb two 12" Celestion G12V-70 speaker that give it a definite rock 'n' roll flare.

Love this amp!

I got this amp going on 3 years ago, at first I had some issue with it blowing tubes, but I took it into my favorite amp guy, Peter as he is a "fender official" repair, and it was biased weird, in which he fixed, I guess it was under powering some of the tubes which is equally not good for them! All I had to pay for was the tube he replaced, it's now not at 85 watts, but 100 watts, and I haven't had any issues with it since that was fixed! Also sounds better at 100 watts! I don't really use the reverb, but from what I heard of that, it sounds good! I use the vibrato now and again, and it's works nicely! But where this Amp excels is as a platform for pedals, I use basically all dirt and delay, and it sounds really nice going through this amp, I pretty much always use the custom channel, as it's a great base for pedals! Despite having to get it fixed, once I still love this amp! I saw a review above saying his needed to be fixed a lot, eh I've had to once and it was still under warranty so whatever! I've played many shows and some touring with it, haven't had an issue since getting it rebiased!

Excellent Amp for 335

My new Gibson 335 Dot Cherry needed an amp worthy of its sound potential, and this amp delivers. I am totally pleased with the performance of this amp along all parameters - it shimmers in a way that only a tube amp can, and with the large speaker area, it simply "moves a lot of air", which is what I need and want in an amp even at low volume levels, for that "visceral" feeling that only a good guitar and amp combo can provide. I played through tube Fender amps in the sixties and seventies, loved them then, and this amp, to me, is an even better sound than I remember. It is a dream set up for me, and the Sweetwater service is, as usual, extremely fast and responsive to my needs. I told my long time and reliable sales rep, Jason, who recommended both the guitar and the amp, that the two go together like peas and carrots, like Forrest Gump and Jennay. I play a lot of jazz, bossa, and some country/rock, and this duo simply handles all of it with aplomb. It is remarkably adjustable and capable of a wide range of excellent sound reproduction. The one I have is also quiet at idle, and well-behaved at various levels and settings.

Future "Must Have" Vintage Amp

I called in to Sweetwater thinking my next purchase would be a '65 Twin Reverb Reissue having used Twins as my gigging amps for the last several years. My sales engineer asked me what I was looking for in an amp. I explained my need for a clean Fender amp but that I played many different styles and venues so I wanted something that would be versatile and take pedals well. Dan immediately suggested the '68 Custom Twin Reverb. The Vintage side is exactly what you would expect from a 60's Twin, but the kicker is in the Custom side. The Custom side is said to have the tone stack of a "59 Bassman. I have never played anything that sounded more similar. This thing is a dead ringer. Also, the amp is extremely quiet in its own right and could definitely be used for recording. I played it at church immediately after receiving it. I was able to find "that tone" within about 15 seconds of flipping on the standby switch for the very first time. I love the touch sensitivity due to the reduced negative feedback. The reverb and vibrato are shared across both channels which is a very nice feature. If you are looking for a VERSATILE amp with an amazing tone for the foundation of your sound, this is definitely worth a shot!!!

Great sounding amp

The cleans are just awesome! Vintage side with a strat is very vintage, warm and punchy. The Custom side takes pedals like a champ! One of the best sounding amps I ever owned! my search is over!

Gorgeous!

This is my first tube amp, and I am simply blown away by the quality of the tone. This amp works amazingly clean and responds well to pedals. Would recommend!
