Handwired Edition of the Ultimate Club Amp

The Fender '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb is a hot-modded incarnation of one of the most beloved combo amps ever made. It delivers the legendary tube tone that has let the Deluxe reign supreme for a half-century as the ultimate club and recording amp among countless pro guitarists. Optimized for this custom edition, the 20-watt '64 Custom Deluxe features handwired, modified AB763 all-tube circuitry, Bright and Normal channels, tube-driven spring reverb and tremolo on both channels, a 12" Jensen C-12Q speaker, and a solid-pine cabinet for lighter weight and improved resonance. From its extra-heavy textured black vinyl covering to its gently-aged silver grille cloth, the vintage visuals are picture-perfect. Whether you're going for single-coil spank or humbucker grind, there's nothing like a Deluxe for definitive Fender Black Panel clean tones: full, snappy, and responsive, with glassy mids, chimey highs, and just the right amount of breakup. The Fender '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb is the amp you've always wanted.

Definitive Fender Black Panel cleans

The '64 Deluxe Reverb just bleeds tube tone. Powered by four 12AX7 and two 12AT7 preamp tubes, two 6V6 output tubes, and a 5AR4 rectifier tube, the amp also features tube-driven reverb and tremolo. The '64 Deluxe Reverb has been the ultimate combo amp for anyone who craves pure Fender tone, but doesn't need a ton of wattage. The '64 Deluxe Reverb is perfect for rock, country, blues, or fusion guitarists who want a moderately powered amp they can crank up on the gig or in the studio. The fat, snappy guitar tones heard on many of our favorite recordings, from Memphis to Abbey Road, were made using the Deluxe amp. We have many Deluxe devotees at Sweetwater, and we're all very excited about this handwired, custom edition of this classic amp.

The amp you've always wanted

The Fender Deluxe Reverb amp of the '60s was small, lightweight, and portable. Despite its conservative power rating, the Deluxe was capable of big tube tone, and Fender's world-class reverb and tremolo effects were the icing on the cake. From its inception until today, countless guitarists have chosen it as their go-to club and studio amp, crafting signature sounds with a stompbox or two feeding a simple miked-up Deluxe. Today, original Deluxe Reverbs are prized collectibles, and becoming harder to find. The '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb offers today's players the versatile tone and dynamics of the original with some valuable modern upgrades. This robust 20-watt combo amp is a wise choice for creating big tube tone in small spaces, and provides an ideal amount of output for small-to-medium-sized gigs, rehearsals, and studio sessions.

My “Go To” Amp
I absolutely love this amp! A buddy of mine recently bought a real 1964 Deluxe Reverb and once I played through it I had to have one but unfortunately I could not afford a vintage one and the fact that they can be somewhat unreliable due to age kind of worried me so this amp was the closest I could get and I got to say I am very impressed and I know once I break the speaker in it will sound even better! I guess the only negative thing I will say is that I wish the faceplate said "vibrato" like the originals did. The "bright" kinda bothers me but oh well. Also, I wish that fender built black a footswitch with the "RCA" jacks instead of the Made In Mexico footswitch that comes with this amp. Other than those couple things, I am in love with this amp and look forward to years of fun with it!
Two Thumbs Up!
What a great amplifier! No issues at all with this amp. It's lightweight. Sounds amazing with humbuckers, single coils, P-90's, and Filter'Trons. I swapped the Jensen for an Eminence GA-SC64, which gave it some extra oomph and more clean headroom. Our band does mostly originals in the style of Elvis Costello & the Pretenders - perfect match for powerpop.

Sweetwater was excellent to work with and Brandon always follows up with an email or phone call to make sure I'm a happy customer.

Nice job, Fender!
The tone
Simply the tone. Everything you expected for classic rock. Lot of clean headroom. My first tube amp and just can't regret.
Loving the ‘64 Fender Deluxe (my first high-end gear purchase)
This amp sings!!! Unbelievable tone and total gem. My first Fender hardwired amp - so far I'm very satisfied with it.

Special thanks to Sweetwater crew too! The amp arrived in excellent condition, including the fun candy bag. I hope you never stop doing the candy! Lastly I want to specially thank my salesperson Israel for the excellent customer service.
Music background: 37-13
Simply unreal ... best amplifier I've ever owned
I have owned so many vintage amplifiers over the years. 25 years ago I started buying up old pre-CBS blackface, brownface, blonde and tweed Fender amps cheap in pawn shops, etc around the country.

Fast forward to 2025 and I'm interested in a NEW Fender that's hand wired. So I picked up this '64 Custom Princeton and from the bottom of my heart, this is my favorite Fender amp of all time. It sounds so much better than my actual 1964 Princeton. With old amps, you have a lot of maintenance issues and speakers that can fart out, thin sound with bad caps, etc. This amps sounds huge and full.

The best way that I can describe it is...
This amp is like an exact mirror of your guitar's tone. I've played dozens of different guitars through this amp and it just spits out exactly what's put into it. It will really show you the character of your guitar. If your guitar sounds dark with the Treble on 10 on this amp, you have a really dark guitar. If your guitar sounds bright with the treble on 5, it's a SUPER bright guitar. It is so dynamic and responsive. The reverb and tremolo sound simply incredible.

Some people have mentioned that it's simply the P10R speaker that's making this amp sound so good but I disagree.
I've done the thing where I took the 65 Princeton reissue and swapped the C10R for a P10R... which made the 65 sound better for sure but I did notice some differences between the amps with the same speaker.
This hand wired Princeton has so much more sensitivity to the dynamics of your playing. Pick soft to hard on this and you can hear all of those dynamics, which were missing on the 65 with the swapped speaker. Also the reverb and tremolo simply sound so much better on this than the 65. The reverb is very touchy on this and if you're into reverb on clean guitar, you can dial up an endless array of sounds. There's a huge range of reverb sounds just from 2 to 4 on the reverb knob. You can push this reverb into ambient muse / shoegaze territory or get it to sound drippy and surfy. I like to have it set between 2 and 3 where it's sort of just there in the background but still sounds incredible.

This amp sounds unreal when you crank it and push it into breakup with humbuckers. It can do ZZ top's Tres Hombres easily.

I can't speak to the QC issues that others have discussed, perhaps I just got lucky with mine but I've had a good year with it. Even if something goes wrong, oh well. Any competent tech could fix this amp in 10 minutes.

It's a LOT of money for a small amp like this but I think that its' worth it. It's just so versatile.
For recording, it is a DREAM.

I just love this thing! ... can you tell?
