Big Grand Orchestra Tone!

Taylor's 616ce cutaway acoustic-electric guitar embodies a superb blend of classic tonewoods and modern electronics. With it, you get a gorgeous, solid Sitka spruce top with Big Leaf maple back and sides, ensuring excellent tone when unplugged. Taylor also added their renowned Taylor Expression 2 electronics system, which makes the Taylor 616ce ripe for stage use as well. The Grand Symphony body style perfectly compliments the selection of tonewoods, adding powerful projection and a natural treble emphasis to the Taylor 616ce acoustic-electric guitar.

Taylor 616ce Acoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:

  • Taylor Expression System 2 electronics deliver superior sound onstage
Choice tonewoods - Sitka spruce meets Big Leaf maple

The 616ce is a prime example of the high-quality tonewoods Taylor selects for their guitars. It features time-proven Sitka spruce as its top, which gives you wonderful projection with the perfect amount of sparkle, and the 616ce's Big Leaf maple back and sides give it an extra bright and snappy tone.

Grand Symphony body style gives you balanced sound and incredible projection

Taylor's Grand Symphony body style, featured on the 616ce, is a more modern take on the sleek Grand Auditorium shape, but with the waist moved up toward the neck. This gives the Taylor 616ce a slightly larger lower bout, giving you an excellent blend of power and projection, without losing the high-end definition of the Grand Auditorium body style. At Sweetwater we love expressive and toneful acoustic guitars, and the Taylor 616ce acoustic-electric definitely fits that bill.

Taylor Expression System 2 electronics deliver superior sound onstage

If you play plugged in, then you're going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics built into your 616ce acoustic-electric guitar. The key to this fantastic system is the 3-section proprietary pickup located behind the saddle. Because of where it's positioned and how it's integrated into the Taylor 616ce's saddle, the ES2 pickup provides you with remarkably clear and accurate sound. In addition to a master volume control, a pair of tone controls let you tweak your highs and lows to get the sound you need, and a discreet phase switch offers vital onboard feedback suppression.

Taylor 616ce Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:
  • An extra-bright acoustic-electric guitar that's great for a wide range of playing styles
  • 600 series advanced performance bracing offers better vibration transfer and tone
  • Grand Symphony body style delivers huge, balanced tone, with a sweetly expressive upper register
  • Torrefied Sitka spruce top provides a light and expressive sound
  • Maple back and sides add chiming brightness to your sound
  • Onboard Taylor Expression System 2 electronics give you natural sound even when plugged in live
  • Hand-rubbed brown sugar finish on the back and sides
  • Includes hardshell case
If you're looking for an acoustic-electric guitar with extra bite, then the Taylor 616ce is just what you need!

Taylor 616ce

This guitar is the best sounding and playing guitar I have ever owned! You'll be blown away with how great it sounds both acoustically and plugged in. The full range from punchy bass to cutting mids to bright highs makes this guitar a player's dream. I play it with extra light gauge strings and it sounds just as good as with mediums. You will not regret purchasing this guitar! HIGHLY recommended!

Gorgeous, honest, and a pleasure.

Will the 616ce (or any of the 600 series) Taylor change your mind about maple acoustic guitars? I think it will, and if you never liked maple acoustics before, you might now. Or if you liked them before, this alternate reality might take some getting used to. While absolutely gorgeous in color and appointments, certainly surprising in many ways in terms of sound, and delightfully a pleasure to play, the Taylor 616ce is an impressive instrument, but it does sound unique because of the maple tonewood and the specific design details of the 2015 revoicing.I imagine that really skilled players will love the Taylor 616ce series more and more as they continue to find ways to use the particular attributes to their favor. I also imagine that some weak players might find that the "honesty" of the 616ce is more truth than they care to experience. But I believe that either will benefit from owning one, the former because they will find new ways to express themselves and the latter because they will be forced to be more disciplined and grow as musicians. In any case, you owe it to yourself to try one and see! You might sell the rest of your axes!

The new Taylor Maples

I have been hearing for months about how Taylor changed the way maple guitars sound. No local dealers had one to play so I could see the difference. So I finally took a leap of faith and got a 616ce. Andy Powers is the MAN! This guitar is totally different than last year's (which I loved). The sound is wonderful, also much louder. At first I didn't like the finish (love blond maple), but soon fell in love with it. This could become my favorite flattop. I have 8. Taylor has really nailed it with this guitar.
