Eventide 2016 Stereo Room Plug-in at a Glance:
  • Awesome, natural-sounding reverb
  • Powerful, yet intuitive and easy-to-use
  • Why you need the 2016 Stereo Room
Great-sounding reverb

It all begins with great sounding room simulations. The magic of the Eventide 2016 Stereo Room plug-in lies in the structure of the reverb algorithm in concert with the choices of delay lengths, filter placement, early reflections, and the like. All contribute to the sense of "realism" one gets from a particular reverb patch. And "realism" is the the Eventide 2016's calling card.

Powerful, yet intuitive and easy-to-use

The Eventide 2016 Stereo Room Plug-in is powerful, but also quite easy to use. Its intuitive interface includes a way-cool Position Control for exacting room placement, which gives you iron-fisted control over the reverb in your mixes. The predelay control adds a delay before the reverb - this can be vintage-wonderful on, for instance, snare drums and vocals. A range of other controls gives you a massive level of tweakability.

Why you need the 2016 Stereo Room

Popular digital reverb units attract their individual fan bases because each has a distinctive sound, and particular ways in which it can be used to enhance audio productions. The original Eventide SP2016 reverbs were widely considered to sound "natural," and gave the user a lot of wiggle room in being able to tweak the effect dramatically. The 2016 Stereo Room plug-in nails the classic algorithm, fortifying your sonic arsenal with a potent weapon to be used in your ongoing crusade against bad mixes. You could look at it this way: your studio's not complete without the Eventide 2016 Stereo Room Plug-in.

Simple and Special

This Reverb is brand new to me. I did not have experience using this reverb back in the day as a hardware device. Now is a plug-in too. At first as you check this out, you feel a little shortchanged for the 199$ The 2016 is not a super high quality sounding modern processor ( and thats exactly why it sounds great! ) As you place this in tracks or auxiliaries, get ready to be slowly impressed by a classic room reverb. No lower mid build ups and unnatural algorithms. This verb mixes well and is not over stylized with modulation sections that emulate the 1980s verbs. It is a solid natural helper with a transparency even at high effect ratios. Its not going to try to impress you with ridiculous over effected presets made more for sound design than music. This is a music reverb excellent at shorter decays. Decent at longer ones. ( I would try it on Dialog too for really small verbs) Also at present Lexicon has not released AAX2 versions of their processors but Eventide is on the ball with AAX2 64bit. It takes a few minutes to appreciate this verb ,but once you realize how well it fits in without adding muddy smear you might not ever do a session again without at least one instance of this plug-in.
