Elixir Protection with a Natural Feel

With their Optiweb technology, Elixir is offering their most natural-feeling and -sounding electric guitar strings yet. Aimed at players who want the same feel and sound as an uncoated string, the Optiweb electric guitar strings are specially engineered to allow the string to vibrate freely. They also offer a precise grip on the strings, which Sweetwater players appreciate for bending and wide vibrato techniques. If you want strings that last, while still enjoying the experience of untreated strings, check out the Elixir Optiwebs.

Reviews

Great Sounding, Long Lasting
I use Optiwebs on both of my main guitars. The 9-42 on my Gretsch and the 9-46 on my Gibson.
I love them both, I switched from Ernie Ball strings a few years ago and I'll never go back. Try them, you'll be impressed. The feel is nice and slippery and the tone is bright, but yet still warm. If that makes any sense.
I personally don't like changing strings, and with these, I don't have to nearly as often.
Music background: Progressive Sludge, 30 plus years
Stiff difficult to bend Are 9s but have the tension/feel of 10s
Elixir Strings 19002 Optiweb 009-.042: Are 9s but have the tension/feel of 10s They sound fine and they will last a while. I will use the Elixir Strings .009-.042 on guitars that I don't play often so that the guitars won't have dead strings from sitting for weeks or longer.

Note: Looking forward to replacing them with Ernie Ball 2223 Super Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings - .009-.042
Not for me
They are really tough on fingers (after years of playing my fingertips are like little stones but still these strings felt a bit hard). They are stiff and extremely hard to bend. I thought they'd settle down but after a week there wasn't much difference so I went back to my previous brand. Maybe they would do better on trem or floyd rose equipped axes? On a tele they felt far too stiff to me.
