1073 Mic Preamp/DI Box

The classic Neve 1073 wrote the book on characterful mic preamplification, so in designing a desktop mic preamp/DI box version, BAE aimed high. That their 1073DMP is used by bevy of top artists is testimony to their success. Done up in classic RAF blue-gray livery, the hand-wired, transformer-coupled, pure Class A 1073DMP is quite versatile, with 71dB of gain that lets you capture subdued sources with your favorite ribbon mic. Cranking the main gain stage enhances your tracks with tasty vintage-style coloration. Under the bonnet reside the finest components, such as Carnhill transformers — like those found in vintage 1073s. BAE spec'd the 1073DMP with the fabled Jensen-transformer-coupled "Bootsy Collins Mod" DI along with two throughputs. Also onboard are 48V phantom power and a polarity reverse switch. The 1073DMP delivers distinctive Class A sound with a harmonically rich bottom end, focused midrange, and slightly resonant highs. If you want a portable preamp/DI with personality and punch, Sweetwater recommends the BAE 1073DMP. It's the sound of rock 'n' roll.

BAE 1073DMP Desktop Mic Preamp/DI Features:

  • All Class A, hand-wired transformer-coupled design in a compact DI box form factor
  • Same Carnhill St Ives transformers as the 1073 and 1084
  • Jensen-transformer-coupled "Bootsy Collins" DI mod and two throughputs
  • Frequency response: 10Hz-55kHz (-3dB)
  • Mic pre input impedance: 1200 ohms
  • DI impedance: 150k ohms
  • Output impedance: 65 ohms
  • Common mode rejection ratio: 100dB min at 60Hz
  • Maximum output level: +27.4 dBu at 600ohms
  • 71dB of gain on tap handles low-out ribbon mics

The TANK
The BAE 1073 DMP is sweet box. Built like a tank and portable. Neve DI magic for bass and my preamp color on the vocal chain. This is the studio or stage BANG for the buck for me.
Where the HPF? Boys
Ridiculously Good!
The BAE DMP is the truth ! Closest to the actual Neve 1073! It's a bargain! After buying this baby , I never looked back for another pre. The Jensen transformers really play a huge role on this pre giving you that low-end / vintage / warm / clear tone that you need on your recordings . As a bass player , this is my go to pre for all genre . This thing makes my bass sound mixed already ! Haha. Thank you BAE for making my dream tone come to life and thank you Brett from sweetwater for your professional service !

I love the mobility and diversity of this unit when moving from my desktop to different recording rooms. You can't go wrong with SW or BAE for the build quality and great tone of this pre-I try to use it on everything I can.

Superb!!!
As a bass player , I been using an Avalon U5 or a Noble pre for recordings. Loving what they offer in studio and live performances but once I got my hands on the DMP, I just couldn't believe how better my tone improved in the studio ! The warmth and clarity it gave me was just out of this world . I briefly tried my acoustic guitar on this and it just elevated my sound instantly ! Was blown away with the presence , in your face type of sound . Instantly has become my favorite pre/DI . Thanks BAE and sweetwater !
