Based on a Museum-quality 00-17 from 1931
Few of us will ever get a chance to play — let alone own — a 1930s Martin guitar, which is what makes the Martin 00-17 Authentic 1931 acoustic guitar such a special instrument. Modeled after an immaculate specimen from Martin's Museum collection, the 00-17 Authentic 1931 brings you the look and feel of a classic Martin, complete with period-correct touches like the vintage-style bracing pattern and a hand-shaped neck without a truss rod. And with a mahogany top treated with Martin's Vintage Tone System, the sound of the 00-17 Authentic 1931 is pure Martin goodness.

Woods aged to perfection with Martin's VTS
Tone connoisseurs are always in search of the perfect guitar tone, and in the acoustic world, one of the most-loved tones is that of a vintage Martin. We're talking guitars that have aged well over 50 years. Martin Guitars recently perfected a unique way of torrefying the top woods and braces of their guitars to achieve the sound of an aged and broken-in Martin. The Vintage Tone System (VTS) lets Martin age the woods to a specific age/time period without the typical change in color of the wood from the torrefaction process. A special Vintage Gloss Finish is then hand applied to give the guitar the coloring of a vintage instrument. Martin's VTS series guitars not only look like vintage guitars, but they also have that sought-after sound.

Martin's Golden Era
Pre–World War II Martins are some of the most prized and coveted instruments on the planet. The 00-17 Authentic 1931 embodies the spirit of those classic guitars with top-grade tonewoods and period-correct touches (like period-correct bracing with cloth side strips and hide glue construction). And the sound is rich yet detailed, with incredible focus and balanced tonality.
