Remo Pinstripe

Before Remo Pinstripes hit the scene in the late 1970s, drumheads fell into one of two categories: too ringy or too thuddy. But Remo’s “goldilocks” hybrid heads, with their 2-ply construction and outer layer of overtone reducing agent (commonly referred to as oil or fluid), crossed genres to create the wet, controlled, pre-EQ’d drum tone we know and love today. Both Clear and Coated Remo Pinstripe are able to focus attack and manage overtones while giving players extended performance out on the road.

One of the industry’s leading batter heads

Remo Pinstripe batter heads have remained at the top of a very short rider list for professional drummers and engineers since their 1977 debut. Session players and studio personnel continue to turn to Remo Pinstripe heads on toms, kick drums, and snare drums for their “pre-processed” tone and heavyweight durability.

Dual-ply Mylar construction

Remo Pinstripe drumheads are manufactured using two 7-mil plies of high-strength DuPont Mylar film for strength, durability, and enhanced stick definition. Heavy hitters and tone zealots turn to Remo Pinstripe heads to achieve a modern, long-lasting tone onstage and in the studio.

Outer dampening

Many players believe that the Pinstripe’s secret tonal sauce is a layer of oil or fluid trapped between the two plies. But what the Remo Pinstripe actually features is a proprietary overtone-reducing agent that’s applied to the outer edge of the head. In conjunction with the 2-ply, 14-mil construction, this helps wick away unwanted harmonic overring without killing the fundamental tone of the drum — which is essential for close-miking.

Available in Clear or Coated styles

Remo Pinstripe Clears are far and away the most popular style of heads under the Pinstripe umbrella. These account for some of the best-selling batter heads of all time. But for players who want a slightly darker, slightly rounder, and more natural tone, today’s Remo Pinstripe Coated heads do a great job of capturing the classic 2-ply Remo Coated sonic recipe while still offering the control and focus this series is known for.
