You asked for it (okay, demanded it!) and Waves delivered. Their hugely popular GTR (Guitar Tool Rack), which was developed in cooperation with Paul Reed Smith, now supports Digidesign‘s Pro Tools Version 7 for both Mac and Windows platforms. GTR 1.0 for Windows has been extensively tested and certified to assure proper operation under Pro Tools 7, while Mac OSX users will need the GTR 1.1 update for version 7 compatibility. Users of other host applications supported by GTR should continue using Version 1.0.
In other news, Waves has announced that all its products can now be authorized using the flexible, dependable iLok system. With iLok, owners of Waves products can move freely between multiple computers or even switch from PC to Mac (and back again, of course) with complete confidence that nothing will crash or become unstable. This is particularly important for freelancers who tend to move around between a number of studios, though other users will find this system convenient when using mobile laptops or working on “take-home” projects. It also makes the inevitable computer upgrade a piece-of-cake. Each iLok USB key can hold over 100 cross-platform licenses.
