VESA Flat Display Mounting Interface Standard (FDMI)
A set of guidelines established by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) to assure compatibility when mounting flat-panel video monitors to extension arms, wall fixtures, etc. For example, the Digidesign ICON D-Control console includes a mounting arm with holes that will match a VESA-compliant LCD or TFT monitor.
There are actually three different VESA mounting interface standards for flat-panel monitors. The most common is VESA MIS-D, which specifies either a 100 x 100mm or 75 x 75mm mounting hole pattern. Larger monitors sometimes offer VESA MIS-E compliance, with a 200 x 100mm mounting hole pattern. VESA MIS-F compliant monitors have varied hole patterns that are spaced in 200mm increments, such as 400 x 200mm or 600 x 400mm.
