Variable Input Impedance

A feature found on some microphone preamps where the input impedance can be changed. The preamp‘s input impedance affects the performance of some microphones, particularly passive microphones and especially ribbon microphones. Typically, for ribbon microphones, higher impedance is better, but sometimes desirable audio effects can result from mismatching the impedance between the microphone output and the preamp input.
