USB 3.0 A-Type

Also known as a “SuperSpeed” connector, the USB Type A connector is intended for use on controllers and hubs. Similar to the USB Type A connector used for USB 1.1 and USB 2.0, the USB 3.0 A-Type connector has additional pins( nine pins versus four pins) that help support faster communication rates. Despite the extra pins, the USB 3.0 A-Type connector is backward compatible with slower USB 2.0; typically USB 3.0 A-Type connectors are blue to help differentiate them from other types of USB connectors.
