Apple has posted what it’s calling “an important update” to QuickTime. Version 7.1 delivers numerous bug fixes, adds support for iLife ’06, and includes H.264 video compression improvements. According to Apple, this update is highly recommended for all QuickTime 7 users. Apple also announced that a new Mac OS X Security update is also available.
Native Instruments has updated its popular Elektrik Piano virtual instrument package to v1.1. Along with enhanced stability and better performance in Pro Tools 6.9 (it’s not optimized for PT 7 yet), this new version includes support for NI’s KORE system. There are also some bug fixes, which include a “pop” that could occur when switching instruments, a memory display that’s no longer limited to 999MB, and the removal of the “insufficient memory” message when there’s more than 2GB of RAM.
