Native Instruments has announced that they are working feverishly for the release of KONTAKT version 3.1, which will be optimized for 64-bit Macs and PCs. Why is this so significant? Because under the 32-bit versions, KONTAKT can only make use of 2GB of the computer’s RAM. This update will be a major enhancement – On a Mac with OS X 10.3 “Leopard,” users will be able to make use of up to an astonishing 256GB of RAM. Windows is not far behind. Vista running in 64-bit mode can access up to 128GB of RAM. This will be free update for all existing Kontakt 3.0 users.
