A: Sorry, your friend is misinformed on this one! You absolutely can use any of the Universal Audio UAD-2 cards with your Pro Tools system — whether you’re running a TDM or an LE system.
With TDM, the UAD-2 card will plug into a PCIe slot right next to your Core or Accel cards; the plug-ins will show up in Pro Tools’ menus and can be used like any other plug-in.
With LE, you can use the PCIe UAD-2 cards if your computer has slots or a UAD-2 Solo/Laptop if your laptop has an ExpressCard slot. The plug-ins will show up in Pro Tools’ menus and the MellowMuse plug-in is provided for latency compensation.
A UAD-2 DSP card is a great complement to the power of Pro Tools!
