Toroidal Polar Pattern

A type of microphone polar pattern shaped like a ring or doughnut. In mathematics, a toroid is a surface of revolution with a hole in the middle, like a doughnut. The axis of revolution passes through the hole and so does not intersect the surface. Therefore, a microphone with a toroidal polar pattern would have a ring-shaped element, which is particularly useful for conference rooms and other such spaces, in which the goal is to reject noise coming from the center of the ring, such as fans and projectors.
