Tascam’s new 24-bit/96kHz compact digital mixing console just arrived. It’s tempting to say that the DM-24 is powerful for a compact mixer, but the truth is the DM-24 is just a plenty powerful digital mixer for any size. It makes an excellent standalone mixer for your the studio, and it’s also a great companion for Tascam’s 24-track MX-2424 hard disk recorder.
Digidesign has announced their new Mbox, which is to be available next year. Mbox is a 2 channel USB interface for Pro Tools LE. It includes two Focusrite mic preamps (with phantom power and inserts), and S/PDIF I/O. Details are still somewhat sketchy, but the Mix Magazine website has the official press release posted.
