Tascam’s new CC-222 CDRW/cassette combo just rolled through our doors. This contains a CD recorder and a cassette recorder and the ability to dub between the two with no computer or other peripheral piece of equipment needed. Operation is extremely easy, and the sound quality is great. Plus, a wide range of interfaces lets you hook up to pretty much any external audio source you want. There are even RIAA phono inputs for hooking up a record player.
As of last Friday Midiman/M Audio has taken on the distribution of some cutting edge software from a group of powerhouse German programmers. The company is known as ABLETON, and the software is called LIVE, a bi-platform application. It offers loop-based recording, editing, and time compression expansion, all on the fly! It also supports linear-based recording. LIVE sports 100% REWIRE compatibility, VST plug-in support and will shortly be OS X compatible.
