Okay, it’s not really a word, it’s actually a manufacturer’s part number. The mysterious designation refers to a Switchcraft microphone connector used in wireless mic systems from Beyer, Electrovoice, Peavey, and Shure, among others. Sorry, conspiracy theorists looking for hidden meanings in this odd collection of letters and numbers will have to look elsewhere, though you might be interested to know there’s also a TA3F, a TA5F and the “big daddy,” the TA6FL. Wait, isn’t “FL” the abbreviation for Florida? Hmm…
