Korg has continually been on the frontline of delivering powerful music workstations, and the KRONOS family is no exception. Shipping versions of the workstation come with System Version 3.0, which is about to be released as a free update for existing owners. This update includes a number of widely sought-after features:
- the new SGX-2 premium piano program
- new system-wide gestural and touch-drag input for the touchscreen
- the ability to edit Programs in Combinations and Songs
- 12 new vintage effects
- improvements to Set Lists
- larger on-screen fonts
KRONOS System Version 3.0 doesn’t include the updated sounds and sample libraries that ship with the new hardware. However, the EXs19 KApro Private Collection, is available free for registered owners of the new KRONOS hardware and available through December 31, 2014 for $49 to owners of previous models. The rest of the updated libraries, including the EXs17 Berlin D Piano, EXs18 Korg EXs Collections, and the new Programs and Combinations, are expected to be made available to previous owners in late January 2015, price to be determined.
