New in stock at Sweetwater Sound: Are you ready for 24-bit MDM (Modular Digital Multitrack)? If so you’ll be happy to know we’ve received Tascam’s new DA-78HR. While this machine looks quite a bit like their highly acclaimed DA-38 it’s really quite a bit different and sports a bunch of new features, not the least of which is the 24-bit recording. DA-78HR’s are fully compatible with DA38/88/98 systems and peripherals. They can record and play back standard DA 16-bit recordings, plus the synchronization functions are built right in. Recording time is still 113 minutes, even at 24-bits. A great value for a retail price of $3199.
TC Works has released the 1.5 version of Spark, their DAW software in mid December. The upgrade can now be downloaded for free on-line.
