In 1964, Gretsch swapped out the Filter-Tron pickup that was in the neck position of its Chet Atkins Country Gentleman model for a new pickup it called the Super’Tron (or Super’Tron II). Oddly, this humbucking-type pickup did not have individual pole pieces for adjusting the relative volume of each string. Not surprisingly, the Super’Tron was dumped a few years later in favor of the original Filter’Tron pickup.
