Speaker Box

Another term for a speaker enclosure, this is a cabinet designed to enhance the output from speaker drivers. The primary purpose of a speaker enclosure is to reduce or control the effects of out-of-phase sound from the rear of the speaker driver when it is combined with the in-phase sound from the front of the speaker driver. The design of a speaker enclosure has significant impact on the sound produced, with factors such as enclosure resonance, edge diffraction, standing waves within the enclosure, and others making a contribution to the final sound.
